We’ve had another very busy week in school! We started the week with our transition morning, when the majority of our Y6 girls were at QES.
On Tuesday afternoon we held our annual sports afternoon, we were really pleased to be able to welcome all parents, friends and relatives back to watch. We all had a brilliant time and the sportsmanship shown by all children was fantastic! Well done children!
On Wednesday, we went off on our whole school trip to Fleetwood. Thank you to the PTFA for paying for the bus to get us there and back! We all enjoyed our morning activities, followed by an afternoon on the beach front where we enjoyed doing some beach art and sandscapes.
On Thursday afternoon all children joined together to watch the Talent Show. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon with some of the best acts we’ve ever had the pleasure of watching! We were all in stitches at the comedians, the dancers danced their socks off and the musicians were brilliant! Well done children!
Friday afternoon saw the junior children finish the year off with a bang with Ben from More Music in Morecambe and his drumming / percussion workshop. It has been lovely to hear the children have so much fun. They are very much looking forward to the parent assembly.
There have been a few tears shed today as Mrs Cottam and Mrs Stalker leave at the end of today.
Mrs Cottam has been a fantastic asset to school over the last few years, when she temporarily came to cover staff absence. Mrs Mather and Mrs Jones will be increasing their teaching hours to cover Thursday and Friday in the junior classroom. Mrs Stalker has decided to take early retirement to take care of her husband, and we wish her all the very best for her retirement. Chas is also leaving next week – the children all love his witty sense of humour. Jonathan Elliott will be starting in August and all children will get the chance to meet him in September. We will all really miss you all.

REMINDER: Reports – please return the slip provided to acknowledge receipt of your child’s report and add any comments as you wish.

REMINDER: Badges – please can all school council badges be returned to the office ASAP.

REMINDER: School Meals – we are still awaiting confirmation of school meals or packed lunches for some children. Please respond to the reminder email sent yesterday. Thank you.

Hot Weather – with the forecast weather warnings in place for the beginning of next week, please ensure children come to school with sun hats and sun cream.

Science Club – all children will need a glass jar with a lid for science club on Monday.

Leavers’ Party – on Monday 18th July, all children will join the Y6 to celebrate their moving on with a party on the field during the afternoon. Children can bring a spare change of clothes (nothing special as it might get wet / dirty!)
Shhhhhh! As last year, we have arranged for children to enjoy an ice-cream treat together, please send in £1.50 per child if you would like your child/ren to join in. Please try to keep this a secret for the children.

Leavers’ Service – we would like all families to join us in church for the end of year service on Monday 18th July at 6.00pm to say a final farewell to our Year 6 children and families. The Y6 children should return in their school uniform.

The Spiderwick Chronicles – all KS2 children will be watching ‘The Spiderwick Chronicles’ on Tuesday to finish off our fantasy topic with a treat. It is rated PG, so please let us know if there are any issues. Thank you.

Farewell – we will be saying goodbye to our Y6 leavers next week. Our very best wishes go to Lucy, Megan, Maisie, Neve Elsie and Daisy as they embark on your new adventure at QES, Sophie who will be heading off to The Hammond School and Erin on her way to Settle College – we will miss you all! Good luck girls!

Missing PE Kit – some children in the infant classroom seem to have PE kit missing – PE bags have already been sent home so we would appreciate it if parents could check the bags for any items which don’t belong and return them to school for us to give to their rightful owner. Thank you.

REMINDER: School Uniform – we have decided to change the school footwear policy from September, we would like children to arrive in school shoes and bring a change of shoes/trainers/wellies for break/lunch times. This is different to the current policy where they have “indoor” shoes that they wear in school throughout the day which we have decided to end. Previous information regarding our uniform can be found on our website: https://www.leck-st-peters.lancs.sch.uk/index.php/uniform/
