We hope you all had a great half term and are all well rested and looking forward to the busy term ahead!
This week we welcomed Doc from Lancaster University into school, who, over the course of two days, worked with all the juniors on STEM workshops. On Monday, the upper juniors enjoyed a Space themed workshop and designed a safe way for astronauts to land on Mars. On Tuesday, the lower junior children enjoyed a workshop based on Jack and the Beanstalk.

Ofsted please find attached a copy of our latest Ofsted report. It has been a pleasure for all the staff to read, so can we once again thank you for all the comments, encouragement and support.

Infants Forest School – the infants will be continue their Forest School Adventures on Tuesday with a visit to the wooded area here at school. Children should come to school dressed in appropriate outdoor clothing suitable for the weather.  If they have waterproof trousers please send them, as the ground is often damp even if it’s not actually raining. We are looking forward to welcoming our friends from Hornby St Margaret’s who will be joining us this time.

The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal – from Monday onwards we will be selling poppies and other items (reflectors, bracelets, pencils, rulers etc.) in school – available from the office, please give what you can to support this great cause, we would love to see all children wearing a poppy or similar in school. A minimum donation of £1.00 is suggested.

REMINDER: Boxes of Hope – in the Friday bag before half term there was a leaflet about the Boxes of Hope Cumbria Charity who run a shoebox appeal supporting children in Romania.  We would really appreciate you joining with us to support this charity and have organised a collection from Hornby St Margaret’s School.  We’ve got our first 3 boxes in school, please return them early next week so we can arrange to get them to Hornby in time for collection.

School Photographs – we have had a selection of School Photographs delivered, these will be coming home in Friday bags today.

SchoolMoney – end of month reminders have been sent earlier today.

Eco School – Mrs Mather will be looking for willing volunteers to help sow seeds on Tuesday lunchtime.
