11.11.2022

We have had a fairly quiet week in school. With the weather turning wetter and colder, please can we encourage all children to come to school with appropriate outdoor clothing. This includes appropriate outdoor PE kit and trainers too as we will try to get out whatever the weather! As always, a spare pair of socks in their PE kit wouldn’t go a-miss either. Thank you. The infant children all enjoyed their Forest School session with children from Hornby St Margaret’s and, despite the weather, all had a brilliant time building shelters, making sun catchers and making our own animals from Percy the Parkkeeper stories.
As everyone will now be more than aware, we have started to prepare for our Christmas performances. This has caused quite a bit of upset this week. As always, when we are closer to being ‘ready’ we will send out a letter with any requirements for costumes. We do have lots in school already, so often these are just plain staple pieces which accompany what we already have in school. Please don’t panic we will give plenty of notice if we require any items for your child/rens parts in the play.

National Anti-Bullying Week – 14th – 19th November is anti-bullying week. The theme this year is ‘Reach Out’ – lets come together and reach out to stop bullying. To kick start the week, on Monday we will be wearing odd socks to show our individuality! and we will be doing some work on this in school.  Some useful information for parents about what is classed as bullying & how to help your child if they are being bullied or are bullying others is available online; https://www.bullying.co.uk/advice-for-parents

The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal – a huge thank you to all who donated to the poppy appeal, it was lovely to see so many of the children wearing poppies or bracelets.

Boxes of Hope – we sent off our boxes to Romania this week – we hope they bring some joy to children in Romania this Christmas. Thank you to all those families who brought them in.

Infant Homework – please can all Y1 and 2 parents keep checking in their child’s maths homework folder as some children have new number facts to be practising. Others also have a homework task to complete. Folders should be sent into school every Wednesday.
