25.11.2022

We have had a fairly busy week in school this week. On Tuesday, the junior children had a visit from Lancaster University with their Planetarium Dome. All the children were fascinated and thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
The infant children celebrated Thanksgiving on Tuesday as part of their topic work. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the families who donated food towards our celebration.
On Wednesday, we had our annual Christmas Activity Day. The children worked together to make some wonderful Christmas tree decorations and art work for our festive displays.

REMINDER: Malham Residential – June 2023 – a letter was attached previously for all junior children. The deadline for the deposit payment is this Wednesday.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding the trip, please do come and speak to us.

Eco School – Mrs Mather and the Eco Club children will be planting some daffodil bulbs to grow and sell as ideal gifts for Christmas. Please let us know via email if you would like to order one (or more) so we know how many to plant. These will vary in price, between £3.00 – £5.00. Thank you.

Celebrations – as part of the Infants celebration topic, we will be celebrating a number of upcoming events in school.
National Tree Day – the whole school will come together on Monday 28th November to celebrate National Tree Week. We will be planting another tree and taking part in some Forest School type activities. All children should come to school dressed in outdoor clothes (that you don’t mind getting mucky!) appropriate for the weather.
St Andrews Day – on Tuesday 29th November to celebrate some of our children’s heritage, we will be celebrating St Andrews Day. Children are invited to come to school wearing something Scottish, and we will be taking part in various activities, crafts and enjoying some Scottish food.

KS1 Indoor Athletics – Wednesday 30th November – our Y1 & 2 children will be heading off to Carnforth High School on Wednesday to take part in a cluster athletics event. A full information sheet is attached, but please note all children will need a packed lunch.

Christmas Performance – the highlight of the festive school calendar is nearly upon us with this year’s eagerly anticipated Christmas production – ‘Cinderella’. As with previous years, there will be two performances; both on Wednesday 7th December in the school hall at 2.00pm and 6.00pm.
As we expect the evening performance to be popular, we need an idea of numbers attending. For this purpose, you will find a reply slip at the bottom of the newsletter, please complete and return by Friday 2nd December.
If you have pre-school children who would like to watch, please bring them to the afternoon performance.

Christmas Lunch – all children have had a Christmas Lunch ordered for Thursday 8th December, if you DO NOT want your child/ren to have a Christmas lunch in school, please email me to OPT OUT.  Payment will be available on our SchoolMoney online platform.

Carol Service – our annual Carol Service at Leck Church is on Monday 12th December from 6.00pm.  All children are expected to attend the Carol Service wearing their school uniform. We look forward to seeing as many parents, grandparents and friends of school there as possible.

REMINDER: Seasonal Sickness – it is that time again for coughs, colds, flu and outbreaks of norovirus, which impacts on us all, and not in a good way! We are therefore reminding you all of the importance of being vigilant for diarrhoea and vomiting (D&V) episodes. Thorough hand washing with liquid soap and water is the most effective preventative measure, however, in the event of infection, children with D&V should not return to school until they have been symptom free for 48 hours. There is infection control guidance in the parent advice section of the website.
