This week has been a little quieter in school. On Thursday, a group of junior children took part in a cluster swimming gala. The event was really well organised and all the children had a great time! 10 schools took part and we placed 8th overall. Well done swimmers!

New! The Leck Monthly Art Challenge – each month, all children will have the choice to join in an extra art activity at home if they wish, linked to the month or current events. January’s Art Challenge was to join in a competition linked to the RSPB’s Big Garden Bird Watch.  Well done to everyone who took part and produced some lovely paintings, sketches, felt and 3D art. Special congratulations to Esme, Thomas J and Sophia who were chosen as winners in their age category! February’s Art Challenge is coming soon…

REMINDER: School Trips –
Juniors – Maritime Museum – Monday 6th February
– all junior children will be going to Lancaster Maritime Museum linking to their current topic of Vikings. The full cost of the trip (including transport) is £11.65, but the PTFA have generously offered to pay £6.65 per pupil, leaving a payment of £5.00 per child, which can be made on SchoolMoney. A full visit information sheet is attached.
We would like to thank the PTFA for agreeing to donate towards these trips and making them more affordable for families.

KS2 Acro Thursday 9th February – a small team of junior children will be heading out on Thursday morning to take part in a cluster acro event. Parents of children involved will receive a full information sheet by email. All children taking part will need to bring a packed lunch and a drink.

REMINDER: Mental Health & Wellbeing – thank you to those who have taken the time to fill out the questionnaire and send it back to Mrs Jones.
This will really help as she develops her role as Mental Health Lead in school.

Walk 2 School – our next Walk to School is on Tuesday 7th February. As always, any children taking part will enjoy breakfast together when they arrive at school. We will meet at 8.20am in the carpark at the back of Cowan Bridge Village Stores.

Parent Celebration Assembly – Monday 13th February 2.45-3.15pm – parents of all children in Ingleborough (house team) are invited to our first parent celebration assembly as we celebrate achievements in school and worship with our families. We will hold a celebration assembly on the third Monday of each month, alternating between the three house teams. We hope to see lots of family and friends there.

Sumdog Competition – the results are in! – this week our junior children have been involved in a county-wide Sumdog competition.
Overall – after a full week of strenuous mental maths – the juniors came 3rd out of the 23 schools who entered! On Sunday we topped the daily leaderboard, coming FIRST by answering the most maths questions correctly!
And to top it off, one of our Year 6 mathematicians, Joshua, who had been on the top ten individual leaderboard all week, came 2nd out of all the pupils who entered! We are so proud of all the juniors, well done everyone!
