The children have all had another great week in school. All children came together on Monday for a day of fabulous Science workshops organised by Mrs Mather to celebrate Science Week. The theme this year is connections, and the children took part in various activities based on this.
On Tuesday, we had a record Walk2School of 22 children! It was a cold but beautiful walk and the children enjoyed some buttery toast on arrival. Our next Walk2School will be 21st March as we move to walking up with children twice per month, on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
The children all made such a brilliant effort today for Harriet’s charity fundraiser! Thank you to all the families for supporting this worthy cause!
This afternoon, the KS2 children enjoyed a visit from a Magistrate Judge to link to their PSHE topic which all the children thoroughly enjoyed. They asked some brilliant questions and also got to try on the wig and robe.

REMINDER: Parent Help – we have a list in school of all the odd jobs that need doing around the school grounds, but we don’t quite have the time to do them.
If any parents are able to offer an hour or so at the end of the school day, or after morning drop off please come and have a look at the list and we’re sure they’ll soon be ticked off!
This replaces our previous “parent help morning” as we realise how busy family lives can be at weekends and how important it is to spend time together.

Toddler Group Stay & Play Session – Monday 13th March from 9.15am. Flyer was attached last week – please share details to any families with pre-school aged children. We hope to see lots of you there!

Strike Action – as we are sure you’re all aware, teaching staff nationally have been taking strike action.
The next strike days are planned for this coming Wednesday and Thursday.
On this occasion, some staff have informed me that they will be taking strike action. Because of this, school will open for the morning and then be closed from 12.00noon on Wednesday and Thursday.

Cluster Football at Arkholme – our junior children have been invited to take part in a 5-aside football tournament at Arkholme on Tuesday 21st March. There will be an upper junior and a lower junior team. A full information sheet will follow next week for children taking part.

Parents Meetings – our spring term round of parent meetings is on Wednesday 22nd March for children in Reception to Y6.
Appointment sheets will be available in the school hall on Monday and parents are invited to come in to school and indicate their preferred 10-minute time slot. Parents can telephone the office to reserve their appointments if they can’t make it into school.
If any parents have any questions or concerns and feel like 10 minutes may not be enough, please make a separate appointment with class teachers at a mutually convenient time.

Easter Activity Day – Wednesday 29th March – the children will need to bring in a decorated egg entry. There will be prizes for infants, lower juniors and upper juniors. They will also need a hardboiled egg for pace egging in the afternoon.
As usual, there will be a range of craft activities in the morning and in the afternoon, there is the egg challenge, followed by the Easter Egg Hunt, with a separate Easter Egg Hunt for toddlers and nursery children. Any pre-school children that might want to join in the Easter Egg Hunt are welcome to join us at 2.30pm. The day ends with our pace egg competition.

Decorated Egg Competition – this year our theme is South America. This links to our class topics in school.
