13.09.2024

We have had a lovely week, for our first full week back in school! The weather wasn’t on our side for our first Walk 2 School, but that didn’t stop Mrs Mather and 11 children venturing up the hill. Our next Walk 2 School will be on Tuesday 24th September, where we will be keeping our fingers crossed for better weather.
Our infant children had their first Forest School session of this academic year on Tuesday. The children were split into groups to create clan flags, they also made javelins or bow and arrows to compete against each other. The children all thoroughly enjoyed the session and are looking forward to the next one!
Swimming lessons started for Y3, 4 & 5 on Thursday, which they all seemed to enjoy, please can parents encourage children to remember their kit each week.
In our celebration assembly this morning, our house captains and librarians were given their badges, well done to Thomas F, Ruby and Violet who are our house captains for 2024/25 and Jake and Arabella who are our new school librarians.

Music Tuition – starting lessons this term is experienced music educator Nick Reay. Regular weekly lessons are offered on a range of instruments. Individual Instrumental lessons are offered in guitar, piano, ukulele, violin, drum kit. We are looking at the potential to set up a after school drumming group also for children in Year 4-6. Lessons will take place on Fridays and run throughout the academic year.
Nick is working directly with school and parents. Parents will be invoiced by Nick for each half term’s lessons at the beginning of each half term.
Please contact Mrs Knapp initially w/c 16th September to indicate your child’s interest. Places may be limited.

Uniform – please ensure children wear full school uniform every day, and remember all children need a pair of black school shoes for indoor use and outdoor shoes for playtime (eg trainers, wellies) – these can be left in school in your shoe box as before.
Children should ALWAYS bring a coat for playtime and lunchtime. We do try to go out in all weathers, even just briefly.

After School Film Club – Mrs Mather will be running an after-school Film Club on a Tuesday afternoon from 3.30pm-4.30pm. It will start on Tuesday and run through to half term. The total cost will be £12.00 and payment is available on SchoolMoney. Please email Mrs Knapp if your children will be attending.

Annual Flu Sprayan email was sent today from Blackpool Teaching Hospitals School Age Vaccination Team regarding the Flu Nasal Spray.  The consent process is now online.  Please read and respond appropriately.  The vaccination team will be in school on the morning of Thursday 17th October to administer the nasal sprays.

It is important we have the most up-to-date information, so please do let us know if anything changes during the year, particularly mobile phone numbers and email addresses as these are our preferred ways of contacting you. Thank you.

Parentkind – the charity that supports school PTAs – have teamed up with Asda, who is making millions of pounds available to donate to primary schools across the UK through their ‘Cashpot for Schools’ initiative –  all you have to do is, opt in through the Asda Rewards app, choose our primary school and shop and scan in store or shop online at Asda.com, between 2nd September and 30th November 2024.
