11th October 2019
This week has been a little quieter in school. The infants were very welcoming to Mr Preece, and he has enjoyed his first couple of days with us.
The infants enjoyed their Forest School session on Tuesday morning, they made shelters for themselves using tarp and protected themselves from the blustery weather. Next week we will be joined by our friends from Hornby St Margaret’s CE Primary School.
Thank you to all those parents who attended the parents meetings on Wednesday. Please remember if at any other time you would like to speak to a teacher about your child you can arrange a mutually convenient appointment for after school.
The Walk to School Breakfast Trek was very well attended, many thanks to the parents who walked up with us to enable this to take place.
Welfare Assistant – we have a vacancy for a welfare assistant on Friday from 11.45am – 1.15pm (term time only). We need someone to help serve meals and supervise the children during their midday break. Please contact the office for more details.
School Photographs – all the children had their photographs taken last week; all parents wishing to order need to do so by Sunday at the very latest.
Reception Children Class Photo – our reception children had their photograph taken for the Lancaster Guardian New Starters supplement, which will be in the paper on Friday 1st November. Proofs are enclosed in this week’s bag.
Infants Forest School – the infants will be continuing their Forest School Adventures on Monday morning with a visit to the wooded area here at school along with children from Hornby St Margaret’s. They will need appropriate outdoor clothing suitable for the weather. If they have waterproof trousers please send them, as the ground is often damp even if it’s not actually raining. A hat, scarf and gloves may be useful too, given the cold, windy weather we’ve had recently.
Lancashire Library Bus Visit – the library bus will be visiting school on Tuesday 15th October for children to swap or renew library books.
School Council Training – our Y3, 4, 5 & 6 councillors will be heading to Arkholme Primary School for a morning of training on Thursday, a full information sheet is included for the children involved. Please note, all children involved will need a packed lunch.
Christmas Craft Club – after half term Mrs Mather will be starting a Christmas club, which will run at lunchtimes on a Tuesday (or Monday if we’re out of school). Children will be making a range of different Christmas crafts which will make lovely gifts. The cost for 8 weeks is £12.00 which covers all materials. Please return the slip by Monday if your child/ren would like to join so that resources can be ordered. Many thanks.
Bonfire Lunch – you will find an order form for a special Bonfire Lunch on Tuesday 5th November at the bottom of the newsletter. If your child already receives school lunches, then you do not need to return the slip. However, if your child would like lunch that day, please send in your completed slip by Monday 28th October.
After School Clubs – following the half term break we have been informed after school club will only be available every other Friday.
Mrs Lawson will run club on a Monday & Tuesday, and Mrs Franklin on a Wednesday, Thursday and every other Friday.
Contact details for both are below, pre-booking is essential.
Mrs Lawson: 07812 503 114
Mrs Franklin: 07940 286 091
