22nd November 2019

This week has been a relatively quiet week in school as we build up to some of the busiest!
Swimming and Morecambe football continue for the next few weeks – swimming finishes on 12th December and football on 17th December – please can parents help their children to remember their kit – particularly outdoor PE kit, warm jogging bottoms and a jumper!

Welfare Assistant – we have a vacancy for a welfare assistant on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 11.45am – 1.15pm (term time only). We need someone to help serve meals and supervise the children during their midday break.  Please contact the office for more details.

Infants Forest School – the infants will be continuing their Forest School Adventures on Monday with a visit to the wooded area here at school along with children from Hornby St Margaret’s. They will need appropriate outdoor clothing suitable for the weather.  If they have waterproof trousers please send them, as the ground is often damp even if it’s not actually raining. A hat, scarf and gloves may be useful too, given the cold, windy weather we’ve had recently.

Lancashire Library Bus Visit – the library bus will be visiting school on Tuesday 26th November for children to swap or renew library books.

Infant Owl Display – the infant children have been invited to Hornby St Margaret’s to an owl display on Thursday 28th November. We are asking for parents to drop off at Hornby St Margaret’s and volunteers to collect children at the end of the session. Children need to arrive before 9.30am and the session finishes at 11.30am. Please let us know on Monday if you can help, thank you in advance.

Leck Playgroup Visit – Leck playgroup will be visiting school on Monday 2nd December from 9.30am – 11.30am, please feel free to stay with younger siblings and tell any friends and family members to come along too.

REMINDER: Christmas Lunch! – overleaf, you will find a reply slip for a special Christmas Lunch on Tuesday 10th December. If your child would like lunch that day, please send in your completed form by Monday (to allow the kitchen to order the turkey).

Christmas Performance – the highlight of the festive school calendar is nearly upon us with this year’s eagerly anticipated Christmas production – ‘Rejoice’. As with previous years, there will be two performances; both on Wednesday 11th December in the school hall at 2.00pm and 6.00pm.
As we expect the evening performance to be popular, we need an idea of numbers attending. For this purpose, you will find a reply slip enclosed in this week’s bag for completion and return by Monday 2nd December please. If you have pre-school children who would like to watch, if possible, please bring them to the afternoon performance.

Winter Craft Workshop – Lancashire Adult Learning will be running a one off Winter Craft Session for parents and children on the morning of Monday 16th December. Please indicate if you will be able to join your child/ren on the reply slip below. Places are limited. Thank you.

PTFA News –
Mufti-Day – Friday 29th November – children can come to school in their own clothes, in return for any item suitable for a Christmas Hamper, which will be raffled off at the Christmas performances. Thank you.
