19th November 2021
We’ve had another relatively quiet week in school. This week we joined the nation in taking part in anti-bullying week. The children have had class discussions, assemblies based on the theme for this year ‘One Kind Word’ and joined in a BBC live lesson. Children have been collecting ‘caught you being kind’ tokens throughout the week for their kind attributes and actions. Today we celebrated by issuing certificates to one child from each year group who stood out to be particularly kind this week, these have been awarded in our celebration assembly.
Farewell – today we say a fond farewell to Mason and Hunter as they set off on their Australian adventure. Both boys have settled really well into school life at Leck and will be dearly missed. Safe journey Grace-Booth family; we look forward to receiving your postcards and hearing all about life ‘down under’!
Infants Forest School – the infants will be continuing their Forest School Adventures on Monday with a visit to the wooded area here at school alongside their friends from Hornby St Margaret’s. They will need appropriate outdoor clothing suitable for the weather, including hat, gloves and waterproofs.
Litter Pick – Mrs Mather and some children from the Eco Committee will be heading out to do a litter pick on Tuesday lunchtime.
Hot Chocolate & Toast – during the winter months, children from the Eco Team will be selling hot chocolate and toast on a Monday break to raise money towards the compost and seeds needed for the veg beds next Spring. This will start on Monday 29th November. Any children wishing to join in should bring £1.50 (for three weeks’ worth) in a named envelope before next Friday so we know how many children to provide for between now and Christmas. Thank you.
After School Film Club – this week children will begin to watch The Grinch. Drink and snack provided, children should be collected at 4.15pm.
Christmas Activity Day – preparations are under way for our Christmas activity day, which is due to take place on Wednesday 24th November. Children are invited to come to school in their Christmas jumpers.
Fun with Phonics – our first session with Lancashire Adult Learning takes place this Thursday from 9.30am. We do still have availability on the ‘Fun with Maths’ session due to take place on Tuesday 14th December.
PTFA Mufti-Day – 26th November – children can come to school in their own clothes, in return for any item suitable for a Christmas Hamper, which will be raffled off at the Christmas performances. Thank you.
Easy Fundraising – please don’t forget to support the PTFA by using the Easy Fundraising website or downloading the app – it’s straightforward to use, and schools can raise amazing amounts of money. All you need to do is create an account and set your cause to St Peter’s School Leck, the website is https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/stpetersceprimaryschoolleck/
Seasonal Sickness – it is that time again for coughs, colds, flu and outbreaks of norovirus, which impacts on us all, and not in a good way! We are therefore reminding you all of the importance of being vigilant for diarrhoea and vomiting (D&V) episodes. Thorough hand washing with liquid soap and water is the most effective preventative measure, however, in the event of infection, children with D&V should not return to school until they have been symptom free for 48 hours. There is infection control guidance in the parent advice section of the website.
