20.10.2022

Thursday news instead of Friday, as we break for half-term today. We’ve had another great week in school to finish off a lovely half-term!
On Monday, we welcomed lots of pre-school children to our Stay & Play session. It was a fabulous session, the children enjoyed Diddi Dance and Christmas card crafts.
On Tuesday afternoon a team of our Upper Juniors went out to Wray to take part in a Rugby Tournament. They all played exceptionally well together as a team and had a great afternoon.

Christmas Card Fundraiser – children have been busy in school this week designing their Christmas Cards which has always proved a great fundraiser for school. Parents are invited in to school on Monday 31st October from 2.45pm to have a look at their child/rens designs and order if you wish. A pricing list is attached.

Boxes of Hope – in your Friday bags you will find a leaflet about the Boxes of Hope Cumbria Charity who run a shoebox appeal supporting children in Romania.   We would really appreciate you joining with us to support this charity and have organised a collection from Hornby St Margaret’s School.  Please note that this means all shoeboxes must be here at Leck ready for collection by Friday 4th November, this will enable us to deliver them to Hornby in time. Thank you.

Early Morning Club – our morning club is now proving more popular than ever. The children have recently been enjoying doing jigsaws together so would like to put a plea out for donations of 500+ piece jigsaws which people may like to give or lend to us. Thank you.

REMINDER: Music Tuition – we are wanting to gauge the interest of families for the provision of private music tuition in school. In previous years, pre-covid, we have had piano, guitar and ukulele lessons. Please send Mrs Knapp an email if your child/ren would be interested in learning to play and we can look into it. Thank you.

Christmas Crafts – as always, this club is now full. Please make payment on SchoolMoney if you haven’t already done so. All resources have been ordered ready for the first week back.

REMINDER: After School Film Club – Mrs Mather will be running an after-school Film Club on a Tuesday afternoon. It will start on Tuesday 1st November and run through to Tuesday 13th December. The total cost will be £14.00 and payment will be available on SchoolMoney. Please email Mrs Knapp if your children will be attending.

Book Club – unfortunately the Infant Book Club didn’t have the take up needed to make it viable. However, we will look to try again in the Summer term.
Mrs Jones will start with a Junior Book Club instead. The cost will be £10, this will cover the session and the price of the book the children will get to keep.
Sessions will need to be paid in advance so the books can be ordered ready for the session. Payment will be made available on SchoolMoney. Sessions start at lunchtime on Thursday 10th November.

REMINDER: School Admissions September 2023 – Lancashire County Councils online application system is now open for applications for 2023 – www.lancashire.gov.uk (search “school admissions”) The closing date for applications is:
