We’ve had a brilliant first week back in school. The Upper Junior children all thoroughly enjoyed climbing on Wednesday, with all children climbing higher than they thought they could. We are really proud of how they encouraged and helped each other! Well done Y5 & 6.
On Thursday, Alice joined Y2, and her little brother Will started in Nursery. They have both had a great couple of days and seem to have settled well. We are sure they will be very happy here at Leck. We also celebrated World Book Day on Thursday, with children sharing their favourite books with other children in school.

Class Newsletters – please find attached a separate infant and junior class newsletter giving you specific information on the focus of studies for this term.

KS2 Half-Term Entrepreneur Challenge – we have been absolutely blown away with the amount of KS2 children who engaged in this activity.
We have used it as a maths lesson this week working out various problems associated with the money.
In total we raised £158.66!! Our challenge is now to decide how to spend the money and in future PSHE lessons we will be writing some persuasive pieces to help us vote.
A huge well done to Thomas J who won the most profit earned award and Joshua, who’s idea was voted the most creative.

KS1 Children – please can all Y1 & Y2 parents check their child’s book bags / maths folders as there is a homework letter and, in some cases, new flashcards to practice. Thank you.

Science Activity Day – to celebrate Science Week, the whole school will join together for a Science Activity Day on Monday. Please can children bring in a small plastic bottle.

Eco-Club – Drink and Snack… will continue on a Tuesday. Any children wishing to join in should bring in £3.00 in a named envelope on Monday, to cover to the end of term.

Gymnastics – Thursday 3.15pm-4.15pm for Y3-Y6 starts Thursday 9th March – Thursday 30th March – spaces still available.

Crazy Hair / Mufti-Day – next Friday, children are invited to come to school dressed in their own clothes with crazy hair to raise money for The Little Princess Trust.
Harriet is having her luscious locks cut on Thursday 16th March, so has organised this day as a way of children in school celebrating.  Children can donate on the day, or the JustGiving link will accompany this email for any parents to donate online if they wish. Thank you in anticipation of supporting Harriet.

REMINDER: PE Kits / Outdoor Footwear – a reminder to return all PE kits and outdoor footwear following the half-term break.
Infant children will be doing outdoor games on Mondays / Fridays so please send a pair of jogging bottoms and a jumper too please.

Parent Help – we have a list in school of all the odd jobs that need doing around the school grounds, but we don’t quite have the time to do them.
If any parents are able to offer an hour or so at the end of the school day, or after morning drop off please come and have a look at the list and we’re sure they’ll soon be ticked off!
This replaces our previous “parent help morning” as we realise how busy family lives can be at weekends and how important it is to spend time together.

SchoolMoney – end of month reminders were sent out earlier this week, there are a number of outstanding payments for school meals, after school clubs and trips. Please try to keep balances to a minimum. If you are having trouble logging in please let me know.

School Value – our value for this half-term is “perseverance”. Assemblies and class worship will be focused on this value and children in school who show perseverance will be celebrated. Our school value changes every half-term.

Toddler Group Stay & Play Session – Monday 13th March from 9.15am. Flyer attached – please share details to any families with pre-school aged children.

PTFA News –
Mufti Day – 24th March – children can come to school in their own clothes in return for a chocolate item for the Easter hampers which will be drawn at our Bunny Drive.
Bunny Drive – Wednesday 29th March – more details to follow but please SAVE THE DATE!
