12.05.2023

This week has been relatively quiet as our Y6 children took their SATs. We are extremely proud of the way the children approached these tests, all week they have been extremely mature and positive and we know that they have all tried their very best, which is all that we ask. Thank you Y6 for all your hard work.
On Tuesday, our infant children enjoyed their epic journey! The children walked from Devil’s Bridge to Booths to catch the public bus – where all children politely asked for a single ticket to Wennington. They then caught the train from Wennington station through to Carnforth (we weren’t charged for this part of our journey, so parents will notice a £6.00 credit on their SchoolMoney account) where they spent some time in the visitor centre. We then reversed our journey to meet parents back at Booths off the bus. Children were brilliantly behaved throughout the whole journey and all had a thoroughly enjoyable day. Thank you to Mrs Mather for organising and all our volunteer helpers who joined us on the day.

Parent Governor Nominations – on the new federated governing body, there are places for 2 parent governors – one from each school. Nomination forms are coming home today in Friday bags. If you wish to put yourself forward, please fill out the form and return by 12noon on Monday 5th June. Thank you.

Walk 2 School Week – all next week we will be encouraging all children to walk to school as often as they can. Any children taking part will enjoy breakfast together when they arrive at school. We will meet daily at 8.20am in the carpark at the back of Cowan Bridge Village Stores.

Whole School Walk to Springs Wood – on Tuesday, all children will be walking down to Springs Wood. Children will take part in forest school activities and enjoy a picnic lunch together. Children should come to school appropriately dressed (including long trousers) for the weather with a packed lunch and drink. Thank you.

Cluster Cross Country – a couple of children from each junior year group will be heading up to Tatham Fells on Wednesday afternoon to take part in a cluster cross country event. An information sheet will follow for those children involved.

REMINDER: Hair – we’ve noticed children have started coming to school with their long hair down. Please can we ask that all children with hair which is long enough to be tied up do so. This includes clipping back fringes. Children will be more able to focus on their work and see what they’re doing more clearly. Thank you to all those who have been coming to school with hair tied up and fringes clipped back this week – it really does make a difference.

Juniors Labyrinth Visit – all junior children have been invited to St Mary’s Church in Kirkby Lonsdale on Wednesday 24th May. Children will be transported from school by coach and take part in 3 workshops, before being collected by parents at the Church at 3.15pm. A full information sheet will follow.

Parents Meeting – MalhamMr Stafford-Roberts is holding an information session for all parents of pupils going on the Malham Residential Trip in June.  The meeting will be held in school on Wednesday 24th May at 5pm, please try to attend.
