We have had a lovely week in school. Children enjoyed a Harvest activity day on Wednesday, with the theme ‘Harvest around the World’ to link in with European Languages Day. Children enjoyed a range of different activities linked to our theme, including making lots of different harvest vegetables and decorating biscuits. We have added a small selection of pictures to our Facebook page.

Parent Help Morning – 30th September – parent help would be greatly appreciated TOMORROW from 10am – 12noon with some tidying and general maintenance jobs. Please see more details below. Thanking you in advance.

Tower Wood – next Monday the junior class will be visiting Tower Wood Outdoor Centre. This activity centre on the shores of Lake Windermere offers a wide range of both land and water-based activities, perfect for a day’s adventure!  There will be no charge for these trips, school will be covering the cost of both transport and instructors. Children should wear their own warm clothes, outdoor shoes or boots and will need a waterproof coat.  Waterproof trousers would also be useful if they have them. They will all require a packed lunch. We have a full day planned and will not be back at school until 5.15pm.  An information sheet is attached. Should anyone have any concerns or queries please speak to Mr Stafford-Roberts.

Infants Forest School – the infants will be resuming their Forest School Adventures on Tuesday morning with a visit to the wooded area here at school. They will need appropriate outdoor clothing suitable for the weather including waterproofs.

Walk 2 School – our next Walk to School of this academic year is on Tuesday 3rd October – let’s hope the weather is kinder! As always, any children taking part will enjoy breakfast together when they arrive at school. We will meet at 8.20am in the carpark at the back of Cowan Bridge Village Stores.

Eco-School Litter Pick Mrs Mather will be heading out on a litter pick on Tuesday lunchtime with a group of Y5/6 children. Y3/4 and infants will get a chance to do the same in the coming weeks.

Parent Meetings – our first parent meetings of the year are due to take place on Wednesday 11th October.
All parents will be asked to sign up to a 10-minute time slot. During this time, your child/rens books and work will be available for parents to have a look through. Sign-up sheets will be available in the infant classroom or the school hall on Monday morning. If you are unable to get into school please phone the office to arrange your appointment.

After School Clubs –
Junior Herbalist Club – Tuesday – 3.15pm – 4.45pm
The children had a brilliant time with Tracy on Tuesday afternoon, they made lavender bags and lavender scented sugar for baking. The club will run for three more weeks, taking us to half-term and then another block of 6 weeks in the run up to the Christmas holidays.

Juniors – please can all junior children bring a water bottle into school for use during lessons. Children have been taking longer than usual at the water cooler, and notably the Morecambe football sessions are being continually interrupted by long drinks breaks. Thank you.

Harvest Appeal – this year, as we celebrate Harvest, we are asking any families who are able, to donate to our collection for a local foodbank. Items can be brought into school and placed in the box outside the office. The collection will be taken towards the end of next week for anyone who would still like to donate.

REMINDER: Hair – we’ve noticed children have started coming to school with their long hair down. All children (both girls and boys) with hair which is long enough to be tied up should come to school with their hair brushed and either tied up neatly or clipped back from around their face. Thank you.

REMINDER: Annual Flu Sprayattached to the newsletter email last week was an email from Blackpool Teaching Hospitals School Age Vaccination Team regarding the Flu Nasal Spray.  The consent process is now online.  Please have a read and respond appropriately.  The vaccination team will be in school on the morning of Thursday 30th November to administer the nasal sprays.
