We have had a particularly busy week in school this week. The children pulled off two amazingly brilliant performances on Monday and were a real credit to the school; from the acting, group singing and very talented solo performances we were all absolutely blown away and hope you were too. We would like to say a very big thank you and well done to all the staff who gave up their valuable time to rehearsals and making costumes and scenery.
On Tuesday, we all enjoyed our Christmas Dinner – thank you to Sarah at Melling for her wonderful cooking, as always. It was really lovely to hear the hall filled with Christmas music, children chatting and laughing as we all enjoyed our food.
On Wednesday, the school thoroughly enjoyed their annual trip to the pantomime (oh no they didn’t I hear you cry!) – a huge thank you must go to the PTFA for funding the coach and partially funding the cost of the tickets to make this an affordable festive treat for all!
Last Friday, our school council held a decorated gingerbread person competition and Christmas jumper day. They were raising money for this year’s chosen charity, Bentham Pet Rescue. Alongside donations received at both Christmas performances, we have managed to raise a total of £160.00 – well done to all involved!

Party Day! – our annual whole school Christmas Party will be on Monday 18th December. All children are invited to come to school in their party clothes!

Walk 2 School – our next Walk to School is arranged for Tuesday 19th December. As always, any children taking part will enjoy breakfast together when they arrive at school. We will meet at 8.20am in the carpark at the back of Cowan Bridge Village Stores.

KS1 Photography Competition – over the festive period, Mrs Mather is challenging all KS1 children (Y1 & Y2) to enter her Winter photography competition. Children can either email their entries or bring them in to school before Friday 12th January 2024. Thank you.

Pringles! – if anyone happens to pop open a tube of Pringles (or similar) please can you kindly save any tubes & lids for the juniors who will all need one for an Art project in the New Year. Thank you.

French Morning – Thursday 4th January – upon our return to school in the New Year we will be hosting French visitors. As always, we will spend the morning learning and then enjoy a tasty breakfast in our French café. Please can families consider paying £2.00 per child or £3.00 for families towards the cost of the café. Thank you.

REMINDER: School Times – please may we politely remind everyone that school begins at 9am and finishes at 3.15pm. School doors are open from 8.50am and all children should be in school, sat at their tables ready for lessons by 9am.  We are increasingly seeing some children late to school each day – this impacts ALL children’s learning. If you arrive after 9am, please come to the office entrance.

PTFA News –
REMINDER: Raffle – all children came home with an envelope of raffle tickets to try to sell to family and friends. Any sold or unsold tickets should have been returned to school today. Please can any outstanding tickets be returned first thing Monday morning.
We would like to say a great big thank you to everyone who supports all our fundraising efforts; all money raised benefits all children in school. A full run through of what we have raised, and where the money has been spent so far, this academic year, will follow in the New Year.

And Finally…… as this is the last newsletter of the term, may I, Mr Stafford-Roberts, and all staff wish you and your families a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year! Thank you for all the lovely cards and gifts we have received in school. We look forward to seeing you all again on Wednesday 3rd January 2024!
