What a very lovely last full week we have had in school! On Monday, the whole school went on our annual whole school trip day – this year we went to The Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre in Ulverston. The children had a very enjoyable day. Thank you to the PTFA for funding the coach and the parent volunteers who came along to help us on the day.
On what could possibly have been the most typically British seaside weather, the infants enjoyed a beach themed day on Tuesday. Thank you to Mrs Mather for providing the children with a Victorian treat – a hokey pokey!
Sports Day was a triumph with the children enjoying their respective competitions and races. Well done to Whernside (Red) on being victorious this year. It was heart-warming to hear and see the children cheering on each other irrespective of their team highlighting how wonderfully supportive our children are of each other. Thank you to all parents who came along, and maybe even ran a race as well. Your support is invaluable.
Today the children and staff enjoyed dressing in costumes as ‘animals’. It was wonderful to look across the hall this morning during worship to see a sea of animals! This event had been organised by our school council and all monies raised will be sent to Bentham Pet Rescue, the charity that school has chosen to support this academic year. Thank you to our School Council members.
Staffing Update – Erin Jones, SENDCO, will sadly not be with us in September. We would like to thank Mrs Jones for her work with children, parents and staff. She will be missed. More details will follow next term on who will undertake the role of SENDCO.
Reports – school reports are in today’s Friday Bag. Please return the slip provided to acknowledge receipt of your child’s report and add any comments as you wish.
Farewell – we will be saying goodbye to our Y6 leavers next week. Our very best wishes go to Ruby, Lillian, George, Hugo and Ivy as they embark on your new adventures at Settle College and QES – we will miss you all! Good luck, we hope you will all keep in touch to let us know how you’re getting on!
School Money – please try to clear balances before the end of this academic year. If you are struggling to log in please come in and see Mrs Knapp.
REMINDER: Badges – please can all school council & librarian badges be returned to the office on Monday.
Leavers’ Service – we expect to see all families in church for the end of year service on Monday 15th July at 4.00pm to say a final farewell to our Year 6 children and families. Parents are invited to come into school at 3.15pm for refreshments before the service.
Fish-sitters Wanted! – the Juniors’ pet fish are looking for a holiday home for the summer break. Our fish are well behaved, show impeccable manners and come with food for the duration. If you are able to offer a well-earned holiday for our fishy friends, please contact Mrs Jones or Mrs Knapp. Thank you.
School Uniform – we have a great selection of pre-loved uniform available in school. Please pop in and have a look, items are all priced at £1 donation to the PTFA.
Parents may also like to start thinking of putting in their uniform orders for September – we now have a new supplier – Uniform and Leisurewear – you can purchase items online or in their shop at Morecambe.
