We’ve had a lovely week in school. This week in school we have been thinking about anti-bullying week. We joined the nation by wearing our odd socks on Tuesday, to show that we’re all different, but all important. The juniors also joined in with a live lesson alongside thousands of other pupils across the country, learned about conflict resolution and linking to our Christian value, how we can speak gently to each other to help our friendships stay strong. We also learned about the difference between falling out with friends and bullying behaviour and who we can talk to if we experience or witness bullying behaviour.
On Tuesday and Wednesday some of our Y6 & all Y5 children took part in Bikeability training. The weather was great, if a little chilly, but the children embraced it and all achieved level 2! Well done children!
Hair – we’ve noticed children have started coming to school with their long hair down. All children (girls and boys) with hair which is long enough to be tied up should come to school with their hair brushed and tied up neatly with a hair tie with fringes clipped back away from their face. Thank you.
PE Kit – please help children to remember their PE kit this week! PE kits can be left in school for the remainder of the term. By way of reminder –we do try to get outside, so please remember hoodies / jumpers and jogging bottoms. A spare pair of socks and hair ties wouldn’t go amiss either! Thank you.
Retired Greyhounds South Lakes – all children came home with an envelope which included 5 raffle tickets from the RGSL – all tickets, sold or unsold, should have been returned today. Parents of children who haven’t returned them will have received a text. Please send them back on Monday, whether they are sold or unsold, the organisers need them returning. Thank you.
Performing Arts Day – this was due to take place on Thursday for selected children – unfortunately it has been postponed so children will remain in school as normal. Once this is rearranged, we will let you know.
Reception – please can all Reception children bring a photograph of them as a baby and one at a birthday party into school next Thursday 21st November for their RE lesson. Thank you.
KS2 Swimming Gala – Wednesday 27th November – a group of upper junior children will be heading off to Bay Leadership Academy to take part in a cluster swimming gala. A letter is attached for children taking part. Please note these children will need a packed lunch as they’re not expected to return to school until around 1.30pm.
REMINDER: Clear Skies – Y5 & Y6 after school session – to link to their science topic, Mrs Mather is planning a star gazing after school session. This will take place in December on a Tuesday on a clear night.
We will keep our eyes on the forecast and endeavour to let parents know the day before.
REMINDER: Pantomime – we are all heading to the Pantomime on Wednesday 11th December – including Nursery children who attend on a Wednesday. Payment of £7.50 is available on SchoolMoney. The PTFA have kindly agreed to fund the cost of the coach to make this an affordable festive treat for all the children.
REMINDER: School Council Fundraiser – on Friday 13th December the school council are organising a coin collection so please start saving any 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p & £1 coins. Please bring these coins into school for Friday 13th December and we will use them to make pictures and then give them to our chosen charity – The Retired Greyhounds South Lakes (RGSL). Thank you in advance.
Personal Achievements – this week in assembly, Mrs Davison was pleased to celebrate:
- Harrison – student of the month at Karate
Well done.
All children are encouraged to bring any recent outside of school achievements into school, be that for sports, swimming, cubs, brownies etc.
We look forward to seeing what the children get up to and enjoy outside of school.
Eco-School News – this year, we would like to encourage all children NOT to send each and every child in the class / school (in some cases) a Christmas card. Whilst we celebrate the act of giving, we would like to actively encourage all children to just send one card, or draw a festive picture, which we can display in school over the festive period.
