What a week! Firstly, we would like to start off by telling you all about last Friday! The six junior girls who took part in the Performing Arts workshop were an absolute credit to school! They were enthusiastic from the moment we boarded the bus. Once we arrived the children took part in three different workshops, singing, dancing and theatre performance. The children got to meet Lisa O’Hare who has played Mary Poppins on the West End stage. Thank you to the cluster for putting on such a great day and thank you to the girls for fully embracing the day.
We would like to thank all parents / carers for their understanding and quick collection of children as we closed early due to the heating.
On Wednesday, all children took part in a carousel of Chinese New Year activities in their house teams. Children learnt about the Year of the Snake alongside cookery with Mrs Mather, dancing with Mrs Jones and crafts with Mrs Tidd.

SchoolMoney – end of month reminders were sent earlier. There are a couple of accounts with balances dating back to September – we would be grateful if these could be cleared ASAP. If you are struggling to log in please let me know.

Infants Forest School – the infants will be resuming their Forest School Adventures on Tuesday with a visit to the wooded area here at school. They should come to school dressed in appropriate outdoor clothing suitable for the weather including waterproofs and wellies.
The junior children will be joining for part of the session – please ensure they have their coats and wellies. They will be making bird feeders prior to our Big School Bird Watch.

SCARF – we would like to invite children to join in and wear their scarf to school on Friday 7th February.

Parent Celebration Assembly – Friday 7th February at 09.00am – parents / carers of all children are invited to our celebration assembly as we celebrate achievements in school and worship with our families. We hope to see lots of family and friends there.

REMINDER: Toilet Twinning – on Monday 10th February all children are invited to wear their own clothes to school (for a £1 donation). We are raising funds for a project which helps families in certain communities have their own toilet in which we will be their “toilet twin”.
We would also like to invite children to our movie night, where we will be watching “Flushed Away” £2 ticket entry includes snacks – 3.30-5.30pm. Please email Mrs Knapp to book by 7th February. Thank you.

REMINDER: Friendship Day – on Friday 14th February we will be celebrating “friendship day” in school where we will be taking part in various activities to display friendship. At the end of the day, we are excited to invite you into school to have a look at our work and share some friendship goodies. If you would like to attend please sign up for a time slot in school before Friday – times are 2.30-2.55pm & 3.00-3.25pm.

After School Clubs – unfortunately, this week we have been notified by Cartmell Tennis that they double booked their sessions after half-term. This does mean that tennis club will now finish on Thursday 13th February. We are in the process of trying to find something different for the children.

Infant Show & Tell – this week we are looking forward to seeing what Eirlys would like to bring to school on Monday to share with friends.

Chickenpox – we have recently been notified of a couple more cases of Chickenpox in the infant classroom. Chickenpox (varicella) is a very contagious disease. It causes small itchy blisters on your skin.
The virus is spread through the air by infected people when they sneeze or cough, and by touching the chickenpox blisters then touching objects or other people. The illness starts 10–21 days after being exposed.
Chickenpox is contagious from 1–2 days before the blisters appear. Children should stay off school for at least 5 days from the onset of the rash and until all the blisters have crusted over.

REMINDER: Brathay Residential – monthly payment plans have been set up on SchoolMoney for the Y5 / 6 children who will be joining us on the Brathay residential in June.  The first instalment of £24 is due today.
