This week has been unusually quiet in school as the junior children ventured out and about! On Wednesday, they all thoroughly enjoyed their Tower Wood visit and the weather was kind. Children spent the morning climbing – on the climbing wall and in the trees and the afternoon was spent walking up Gummer’s How and team building exercises.
On Thursday, the juniors spent the majority of the day with our friends at Hornby St Margaret’s in preparation for ‘The Big Sing’. They took part in a workshop with Emma and made some props for the event. We are all really looking forward to the evening.
Class Newsletters – please find attached a separate infant and junior class newsletter giving you specific information on the focus of studies for this term.
Infant Show & Tell – will continue on Monday. We are looking forward to seeing what Reuben would like to bring to school to share with friends.
Gardening Club – Mrs Mather will continue with gardening club on Monday lunchtime – if any parents/carers / grandparents / family / friends etc. would like to help please let us know. Any children wishing to join in should bring a pair of wellies. Thank you.
Walk 2 School – our next Walk to School is on Tuesday. As always, any children taking part will enjoy breakfast together when they arrive at school. We will meet at 8.20am in the carpark at the back of Cowan Bridge Village Stores.
Cluster Netball Tournament – a letter with more information was sent home last Friday with children who were selected to take part. Other children will be given the opportunity to attend if consent is not signed and returned on Monday morning.
Mrs Jones will be doing another lunchtime practice for the team, on Wednesday 12th March – other KS2 can join in if they wish.
Parent Celebration Assembly – Friday 14th March at 9.00am – parents / carers of all children are invited to our celebration assembly as we celebrate achievements in school and worship with our families. We hope to see lots of family and friends there.
Chickenpox – there are still active cases of chickenpox in the infant classroom. Chickenpox (varicella) is a very contagious disease. It causes small itchy blisters on your skin. The virus is spread through the air by infected people when they sneeze or cough, and by touching the chickenpox blisters then touching objects or other people. The illness starts 10–21 days after being exposed. Chickenpox is contagious from 1–2 days before the blisters appear. Children should stay off school for at least 5 days from the onset of the rash and until all the blisters have crusted over.
After School Clubs – we have been informed that the Dance after school club will be finishing on 18th March. After Easter we have the opportunity to offer a couple of different after school clubs.
The Yogi Group – Tuesday (covering yoga stories and games, meditation, breathing techniques, guided meditation, resilience and mindfulness activities and positive affirmations) – this will be a chargeable club of £6.00 per session – without enough interest it will not be able to run.
Golf – Wednesday from 3.30-4.30pm – please register your interest and we will be able to work out costs depending on how many children wish to join.
Please email me to register your interest for either club by next Friday.
Parent Help – we would like to request parent help to move a couple of benches from around the school grounds to the new sheltered area – now the weather is improving we would like to get the sail up and start using the space. Please get Mrs Mathers attention on Monday morning if you have 10 minutes to stay and help 😊 thank you.
