We have had another great week in the sunshine! We were pleased to hear that several families visited Fraser Hall on Monday for the 80th Anniversary celebrations. We would once again like to thank the community for asking us to join in with their celebrations and say a big thank you to Mrs Mather and Mrs Tidd for organising the craft sessions at school.
Our Y6s have been working super hard, as always, to prepare for their SATs next week. We know they will all try their absolute best, and this is all we ask for. In school we are encouraging the children not to worry about the week, enjoy the weekend, but make sure they have good nights’ sleep and a hearty breakfast each day to help them feel ready for the tests.
Early Morning Club – recently, we have noticed a downward trend of early morning club attendance, which is something which cannot be sustained within our school budget.
Early morning club is available to all children (nursery through to Y6) from 8am, and children can take part in various activities, we would also welcome any ideas from children about what they would like to do. Please send any suggestions from children via email.
Walk 2 School – our next Walk to School is arranged for Tuesday. As always, any children taking part will enjoy breakfast together when they arrive at school. We will meet at 8.20am in the carpark at the back of Cowan Bridge Village Stores.
End of SATs Treat – the Y6 children have opted to watch a film on Thursday with the junior class, as a celebration for finishing their SATs – children have chosen Toy Story 3, which is a PG, please let us know if you would rather your child/ren didn’t watch it.
Belated World Book Day Celebrations – next Friday we will be celebrating World Book Day – an email with information was sent on Tuesday. All children in school are invited to come to school dressed as a character from their favourite authors book, or bring an object relating to their favourite book (e.g. a spoon from Roald Dahls George’s Marvelous Medicine or a Bucket of Dinosaurs from Ian Whybrows Harry & the Bucketful of Dinosaurs).
Churchyard – a group of volunteers from the Church have been clearing the Churchyard and have noticed a few gaps in the stone wall between the school and the field and wondered if there were any parents with the skills to help fix these. Please email me if you can help at all. Thank you in advance.
REMINDER: PE Kit – please can all children remember to return their PE kit. As we are now in the summer months, we will be outside for our PE lessons, so please bring appropriate clothing and footwear. Thank you.
REMINDER: Brathay Residential – at the end of last week an email was sent to all parents of children who will be joining us on the Brathay residential which contained a participation registration link. Reminders were sent this week to those who haven’t responded. Please ensure this is completed ASAP.
REMINDER: Summer Weather – as we have seen a little glimpse of summer this week, children are encouraged to bring sun hats / caps and apply suncream when applicable.
Personal Achievements – this week in assembly, Mrs Davison was pleased to celebrate:
- Nevaeh – conquering Pen-y-Ghent last weekend with Daddy!
well done, Nevaeh.
All children are encouraged to bring any recent outside of school achievements into school.
We look forward to seeing what the children get up to and enjoy outside of school.
