We have had a lovely week, for our first full week back in school! Our youngest children started the week with their first Diddi Dance session, and all sounded to be having a brilliant time!
On Tuesday afternoon, the juniors Morecambe Football sessions started – please ensure children have a spare jumper / hoodie and spare socks – we will be going out whatever the weather!
Wednesday saw us all venture out to the Westmorland Show and the weather played ball. All the children had a fantastic time, seeing lots of different animals and tasting a variety of different food.
On Thursday and Friday, Doc visited from Lancaster University and delivered STEM workshops to our junior class. Mrs Mather will be sharing pictures from the workshops on our Facebook page.
Swimming lessons started for Y3, 4 & 5 on Thursday, please help children to remember their kit each week.
We have had a couple of new faces in school this week. On Monday we welcomed Elycia to our Nursery, we hope she will be very happy here; and on Wednesday we welcomed Miss Faraday who will be working in our Infant class on her college placement – we hope you will all make her feel very welcome.

Forms – thank you for the prompt return of our annual forms – it is greatly appreciated. Please remember to inform the office of any changes throughout the year!

Uniform – please wear full school uniform every day, and remember all children need a pair of school shoes for indoor use and outdoor shoes for playtime (eg trainers, wellies) – these can be left in school in your shoe box as before.
Children should ALWAYS bring a coat for playtime and lunchtime. We do try to go out in all weathers, even just briefly.

Walk 2 School – our first Walk to School of this academic year is on Tuesday 19th September. As always, any children taking part will enjoy breakfast together when they arrive at school. We will meet at 8.20am in the carpark at the back of Cowan Bridge Village Stores. Please note, some children can be left with staff to walk up to school if you are rushing off to work – however, we are always very grateful to those parents who do stay and walk up with us as extra helpers!

Orienteering – all our lower junior children will be heading to Quernmore on Wednesday 20th September to take part in a fun filled morning of Orienteering. A full information sheet is attached for all children in Y3 & Y4.

Worship Team – this year’s Worship Team was set up earlier this week, with lots of juniors keen to join! Well done to George W, Hugo, Joe, Thomas F, Zara and Esme. We are looking forward to them being wonderful role models, planning and leading assemblies as well as occasionally helping out in RE lessons! We will share their endeavours on our school Facebook page throughout the year.

Eco-Club – Hot Chocolate and… will return from Tuesday 26th September. Any children wishing to have hot chocolate and a snack on a Tuesday morning should bring in £3.00 in a named envelope (by Friday 22nd September) which will cover to half term.

After School Clubs –
Junior Herbalist Club – Tuesday – 3.15pm – starting 26th September, if enough interested.
This club will be run by a qualified medical herbalist and children will find out all about herbs and weeds (a different one each week). Sessions will cost £3.00 each week and upon completion of the course, children will receive a certificate of attendance and a badge. The club is aimed more towards junior children, but if your child is interested please let us know and we will speak to the club organiser. Please email Mrs Knapp to register your child’s interest.
