This week has been quiet in school as the children all get settled into the new academic year. The weather wasn’t on our side for our first Walk 2 School, but that didn’t stop Mrs Mather and 6 children meandering their way up the hill. Our next Walk 2 School will be on Tuesday 3rd October where we will be keeping our fingers crossed for better weather.

After School Clubs –
Junior Herbalist Club – Tuesday – 3.15pm – 4.45pm starts Tuesday 26th September. Consent / medical forms need to be returned to school by Monday, children will not be able to stay without them.

Upper Junior Young Voices – information was sent to parents of Y5 & 6 regarding the Young Voices concert in Manchester in February. Whilst this does seem quite a long time away, we do need to confirm numbers, so please return the slip by Monday. Thank you.

Harvest Around the World Activity Morning – next Wednesday we will celebrate Harvest Around the World. Children will be working together throughout school on harvest activities which also tie in to European Languages Day.

Harvest Appeal – this year, as we celebrate Harvest, we are asking any families who are able, to donate to our collection for a local foodbank. Items can be brought into school and placed in the box outside the office.

Hair – we’ve noticed children have started coming to school with their long hair down. All children (both girls and boys) with hair which is long enough to be tied up should come to school with their hair brushed and either tied up neatly or clipped back from around their face. Thank you.

Home Time – please can all parents endeavour to let us know if children are going home with anyone who doesn’t usually collect. A quick email will suffice, or please let someone know in a morning when children are dropped off. Thank you.

Infant Spares – as always at the start of a new school year, while children get to grips with new routines, we appear to be having a few accidents. Please ensure children have spares (socks, underwear, tights etc.) Similarly, if any older children have items which are now too small, we would gladly accept donations to keep in school. Thank you.

Orienteering – unfortunately this event had to be CANCELLED due to the adverse weather, we will update parents as and when we get given a new date.

Annual Flu Sprayattached to the newsletter email this week is an email from Blackpool Teaching Hospitals School Age Vaccination Team regarding the Flu Nasal Spray.  The consent process is now online.  Please have a read and respond appropriately.  The vaccination team will be in school on the morning of Thursday 30th November to administer the nasal sprays.

Parent Help Morning – 30th September – parent help would be greatly appreciated next Saturday from 10am – 12noon with some tidying and general maintenance jobs. Thanking you in advance.

PTFA News
AGM – the PTFA will be meeting in school at 2.30pm on Wednesday to discuss plans for the year ahead. Please do try to come along, especially if you have any new fundraising ideas! The money raised by the PTFA benefits all children in school.
Parent’s Group Chat – there is a whole school parents group chat which is in the process of being swapped from ‘Messenger’ to ‘Whatsapp’. If any parents wish to join, please contact Rachael Booth on 07811862792.

REMINDER: Uniform – please wear full school uniform every day, and remember all children need a pair of school shoes for indoor use and outdoor shoes for playtime (eg trainers, wellies) – these can be left in school in your shoe box as before.
Children should ALWAYS bring a coat for playtime and lunchtime. We do try to go out in all weathers, even just briefly.
PE – all children need to keep a full PE kit in school. The junior children also need a hoodie or jumper, and a spare pair of socks (particularly for tight wearers!) We do try to go out whatever the weather, even if it is just for 15 / 20 minutes.

LAST CHANCE: Eco-Club – Hot Chocolate and… will return from Tuesday 26th September. Any children wishing to have hot chocolate and a snack on a Tuesday morning should bring in £3.00 in a named envelope on Monday which will cover to half term.
