18.11.2022

We’ve had a lovely week in school. This week in school we have been thinking about anti-bullying week and how we can reach out to other people if we are being bullied or see other children being bullied. We joined the nation by wearing our odd socks on Monday, to show that we’re all different, but all important. We joined in a live lesson and had lots of discussions about how we can deal with bullying to put an end to it. Well done everyone for your wonderful ideas.

Malham Residential – June 2023 – a letter was attached last week for all junior children.

Eco School – Mrs Mather and the Eco Club children will be planting some daffodil bulbs to grow and sell as ideal gifts for Christmas (similar to the picture             ). Please let us know via email if you would like to order one (or more) so we know how many to plant. Thank you.~

Christmas Activity Day
23rd November 2022 – all children are invited to come to school wearing their Christmas jumpers.

Christmas Performance – all children will be coming home with a slip outlining any requirements we have for their Christmas play costume. Any questions please speak to Mrs Browne.

Reception School Pictures – the First Days photographs will appear in the Lancaster Guardian and Morecambe Visitor this week. Any children who ordered pictures will have come home with them this week.

Celebrations – as part of the Infants celebration topic, we will be celebrating a number of upcoming events in school.
Thanksgiving – on Tuesday, the infant class will be celebrating Thanksgiving. Please sign up in the classroom to bring a food item if you haven’t already done so.
National Tree Day – the whole school will come together on Monday 28th November to celebrate National Tree Week. We will be planting another tree and taking part in some Forest School type activities. Children should come to school dressed in outdoor clothes (that you don’t mind getting mucky!) appropriate for the weather.
St Andrews Day – on Tuesday 29th November to celebrate some of our children’s heritage, we will be celebrating St Andrews Day. Children are invited to come to school wearing something Scottish, and we will be taking part in various activities, crafts and enjoying some Scottish food.

School Times – please may we politely remind everyone that school begins at 9am and finishes at 3.15pm. School doors are open from 8.50am and all children should be in school, sat at their tables ready for lessons by 9am.  We are increasingly seeing some children late to school each day – this impacts ALL childrens learning. If you arrive after 9am, please sign the children in through the office door.

REMINDER: School Shoes we would like children to arrive in school shoes which they will wear all day in class and bring a change of trainers/wellies which they can leave at school for break and lunch times to prevent the classrooms getting muddy especially over the winter period.

Seasonal Sickness – it is that time again for coughs, colds, flu and outbreaks of norovirus, which impacts on us all, and not in a good way! We are therefore reminding you all of the importance of being vigilant for diarrhoea and vomiting (D&V) episodes. Thorough hand washing with liquid soap and water is the most effective preventative measure, however, in the event of infection, children with D&V should not return to school until they have been symptom free for 48 hours. There is infection control guidance in the parent advice section of the website.
