26.09.2025

It has been another relatively quiet week in school as we settle in to the new term and new routines. On Monday our infant children had their first forest school session of the academic year, and the sun was shining. The children made boats from conker shells, faces with natural items and leaf puppets. They are already looking forward to their next session.

REMINDER: Pupil Data Collection Sheet – we are still missing more than half of the data sheets for children, please complete and return to school by Monday.
It is important we have the most up-to-date information, so please do let us know if anything changes during the year, particularly mobile phone numbers and email addresses as these are our preferred ways of contacting you. Thank you.

Open Days – we are hosting a number of open days for prospective parents – please share with anyone you know who have children who are due to start school or nursery in September 2026.

Harvest Activity – next Wednesday we will celebrate Harvest. Children will be working together throughout school on harvest activities which also tie into our school values.
Miss Faraday will be baking children on Wednesday morning and has requested that all children will need to bring in a small ramakin (think Gu dessert sized pots) to take their bake home 😊
This year, as we celebrate Harvest, we are asking any families who are able, to donate to our collection for a local foodbank. Items can be brought into school and placed in the box outside the office.

Forest School Stay & Play Sessions – starting next Thursday and running every week during term time. Please share with any families who may be interested in joining us for a morning of fun in the forest.

School Trips letters will be sent regarding upcoming visits to both the infant & junior class. The infants will be visiting Judges’ Lodgings in Lancaster, and the juniors will be visiting Lancaster Maritime Museum – both these visits are to aid the children’s current history topic work.

School Council Badges – please can any school council badges be returned to the office early next week as we prepare to elect our new councillors.
Please remind your junior children that they will need their speeches prepared for Monday afternoon.

Infants PE – please can all children have PE shorts in their kit bag for gym sessions – it is helpful to have leggings / joggers for our outside sessions, but they must have shorts for gymnastics. Thank you.

Indoor / Outdoor Shoes – as a reminder, all children (including nursery) should have a pair of school shoes for inside and a pair of outdoor wellies / trainers / boots that you don’t mind getting muddy for playtimes.

Juniors Healthy Snacks – please can we ask children to bring a healthy breaktime snack for morning break, this is to promote healthy eating habits among pupils and ensure they have the energy and nutrients needed for optimal learning and development.
 Acceptable Snacks:
• Fruits & Veg: fresh, dried, or canned (in natural juice or water)
• Whole Grains: crackers, rice cakes, or whole grain bread
• Dairy: low-fat yoghurt or cheese sticks
• Protein: seeds or boiled eggs
Snacks to Avoid:
• Sugary Foods: sweets, chocolate & sugary cereals
• Salty Snacks: crisps, processed snacks & nuts of any type
• Sugary Drinks: fizzy drinks, energy drinks & fruit drinks with added sugar
• High-Fat Foods: pastries, cakes & fried snacks

Juniors Art – please can all junior children bring in an over-sized shirt for painting. Thank you.

SchoolMoney – end of month reminders were sent earlier today. Please try to keep all balances to a minimum.

Playground – whilst we adore our wonderful school grounds and love to see the children enjoying them, recently we have found that more people are visiting over evenings and weekends and not taking care of it as we’d like. On a couple of occasions, numerous items have been taken out of storage and played with and not returned. At the beginning of the academic year, we found our new balance bikes in the forest school area, which had been completely transformed – and not in a good way. Please, if you see anyone in an evening or over the weekend using items, please remind them that these are for our children’s use, and it should only be being used to access the footpath

REMINDER: Annual Flu Spray – an email was sent on Friday 12th September from Blackpool Teaching Hospitals School Age Vaccination Team regarding the Flu Nasal Spray.  The consent process is now online.  Please read and respond appropriately.  You must complete the form with either consent or no consent. The vaccination team will be in school on the morning of Thursday 23rd October to administer the nasal sprays.

REMINDER: School Admissions September 2026 – Lancashire County Councils online application system is now open for applications for 2026 – www.lancashire.gov.uk (search “school admissions”) The closing date for applications is:

If you live in either North Yorkshire or Cumbria, you will need to apply for secondary or primary school places via their website.

PTFA News
AGM Tuesday 30th September – the PTFA will be meeting in school at 3.00pm to discuss plans and setting PTFA roles for the year ahead. The PTFA depends on a continual cycle of parent involvement. As children reach their final year and leave, so do their parents. The teachers and headteacher support us when possible, but without all your support, we will have no PTFA.
Please do try to come along, especially if you have any new fundraising ideas! The money raised by the PTFA benefits all children in school.
