We have had a great week in school, despite the autumnal weather! On Tuesday, just 2 children joined Mrs Mather for Walk2School – as numbers have dwindled so significantly, we will take a little pause with this for the time being. The children who joined Mrs Mather were treated to croissants for breakfast.
On Wednesday, we all braved the weather for the Westmorland Show, where the weather was much kinder than the forecast predicted. The children were split into groups, and each group had their own ideas of what they wanted to see throughout the day. One child’s highlight was seeing their own work on our school display 😊 another child’s highlight was making it on to the ITV regional news broadcast.
On Thursday, our infants headed off to their first school swimming lesson. The swimming teachers commented on what a joy the group were and are all looking forward to seeing them again next week. Please can parents encourage children to remember their kit each week. It would also be helpful to encourage girls to wear skirts & socks or trousers on Thursdays to aid them in getting dressed afterwards – pinafore dresses and tights were a little tricky this week.
Gardening Club – will continue on Monday for all children interested in taking part. Please send children with an appropriate outdoor coat and wellies. Thank you.
Eco-Club – Hot Chocolate and… continues on Tuesday. Any children wishing to have hot chocolate and a snack on a Tuesday morning should bring in £4.50 in a named envelope which will cover the seven weeks to half term.
Library Bus – the library bus will be visiting on Tuesday. Please encourage children to bring back their books to swap or renew.
Annual Flu Spray – an email was sent today from Blackpool Teaching Hospitals School Age Vaccination Team regarding the Flu Nasal Spray. The consent process is now online. Please read and respond appropriately. The vaccination team will be in school on the morning of Friday 24th Octoberto administer the nasal sprays.
Uniform – please ensure children wear full school uniform every day, and remember all children need a pair of black school shoes for indoor use and outdoor shoes for playtime (eg trainers, wellies) – these can be left in school in your shoe box as before.
Children should ALWAYS bring a coat for playtime and lunchtime. We do try to go out in all weathers, even just briefly.
REMINDER: Earrings – we have noticed a few children have had their ears pierced over the summer holidays. Please can parents ensure that children are able to take out their own earrings for PE / swimming. If children are unable to take out their own earrings, please send in some tape for children to cover their own ears. Unfortunately, school are unable to help or take any responsibility. Thank you for your co-operation.
REMINDER: Where the Wilding are – we will be taking part in an Autumn project with Where the Wildings are at Hornby St Margaret’s on Friday 19th September from 12.20pm-3.30pm. All children will need an apple.
Parents are being asked to collect from Hornby at 3.30pm.
REMINDER: Water Bottles – please could all children bring a water bottle to school daily following the summer break.
After School Clubs – these clubs are charged at £3.00 per session, this half-terms fees have been added to children’s SchoolMoney accounts this week.
