Friday 15th January
Infants Forest School
It’s Forest School on Monday here at Leck. As well as cooking we will be creating our very own mud kitchen and would really appreciate it if all children could bring in one item that could be used to contribute to this new area. Items won’t be returned so please only send in things that you don’t want back; it could be cutlery, bowls, pans, an old microwave or anything else that you’d find in a kitchen. Please make sure children have really warm outdoor clothing, sturdy boots or wellies. For lunch we will be cooking jacket potatoes, please send one with your child along with a choice of filling. We’ll be having pancakes for pudding which school will supply.
KS1 Gym Skills
Some of our infant children will be attending a Gym Skills workshop at LRGS on Friday 22nd January. There is an information sheet in your Friday bag for those parents of children involved. Please make sure the children have their PE kit in school along with a warm sweatshirt and jogging bottoms as the sports hall can be chilly. They should also bring a named bottle of water. Thanks.
KS2 News
The junior children have all been given a times table book. In the front of the book is the times table they are currently learning. They will be tested every Thursday on this table (out of order). It would be really appreciated if you could support your child with this.
Juniors will be making Anglo Saxon Houses this half-term and Mrs Wheatley would be grateful if someone would kindly donate a small bag of clean straw. Thank you.
Bills, Bills, Bills
Junior parents paying for school dinners will find an invoice for this term in the Friday bag. Invoices for After School Club are also included in the relevant bags. Please can we also remind junior parents about the Malham Residential in the summer, payment for this is due by the end of March at the latest. Payment cards were sent out last term, please come and talk us if you have misplaced the card or if payment by March is difficult. Many thanks.
Parent Governor Vacancy
We have a vacancy for a parent governor, please talk to Mr Stafford-Roberts or Jayne Davies if you feel you could fill this role and would like to apply for the vacancy. We would also welcome applications from members of the community.
Safer Internet Day
Safer Internet Day is on Tuesday 9th February this year, with the theme “Play your part for a better internet”. Children will take part in related activities that day. There are a range of links in the Parent Advice section of our website to help with E-Safety. We are also holding an internet safety information session for Leck and Hornby parents at Hornby School 6-7pm. This will be led by a local authority consultant, please do come along if you can, it will be very informative. Many thanks.
PTFA Mufti Day & Valentines Disco
PTFA will be holding a valentines disco on Friday 12th February straight after school, we will be organising a Jacobs join supper for this and entry to the disco will be £1 – more details to follow. Children will also be able to come to school in non-school uniform during the day for a charge of £1.
Convert used stamps into cash for charity The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) is encouraging people to send in used postage stamps so they can be converted into cash. The stamps are an extra source of income for the charity that needs £4m to run the service every year. Each single stamp has a small value but in large quantities they can be valuable. Please bring your used stamps into school and Alison Dunnington will collect them up and send them on. Many thanks.
