Administration & After School Club Positions
We had some excellent applicants for both the school office admin post and the after school club position. Interviews took place on Wednesday & Thursday this week. We are pleased to report that Mrs Dyson has accepted the position of School Administrator over four days a week. Mrs Dyson has worked at Ryelands School in Lancaster and will start with us after the half term holidays. Mrs Harrison finishes at school on Friday 12th February at which point Mrs Sharpe will return to working solely at Hornby School. We are sure you will join us in wishing them well.
Mrs Dutton has accepted the position of After School Club Leader and will start with us after half term or sooner if this can be arranged. She currently works in school during lunchtimes from Wednesday to Friday, so the children all know her and she knows them.
LEAP Enterprise – Wennington Hall School
Two of our juniors will be attending the first meeting of this year’s Enterprise Scheme at Wennington Hall School on Wednesday 27th January. Information sheets are enclosed in the Friday bag for the two children involved.
Year 1 & 2 Lunchtime Reading Club
Mrs Mather will be holding a lunchtime reading club for year 1 & 2 children on Tuesday lunchtimes, starting 26th January up until Easter.
PTFA Mufti Day & Valentines Disco
Children can come to school in non-school uniform on the last day of term (Fri 12th Feb) for a charge of £1.
There will also be the valentines disco straight after school. Entry will be £1. There is a poster up in the entrance to school opposite the office with a list of food needed for the Jacobs join, please do come and sign up to provide something if you can.
We will be serving tea and coffee for parents and hope to catch up with lots of you there whilst the children have fun dancing. Volunteers would be appreciated, please chat to Hayley Mason or Vanessa Christie if you can help.
After school club will run as usual on this day and children will be supervised at the disco, normal charges will apply and parents will be invoiced as usual. The £1 for the disco itself goes to PTA funds. We will need to take bookings for after school club this day to ensure we don’t exceed the maximum number of children at the club, places will be given on a first come first served basis so please do let us know asap if you’d like to book.
Sainsbury’s Active Kids
We will be collecting Active Kids vouchers again this year to exchange for active and cooking equipment for the school. Vouchers can be collected from all Sainsbury’s stores, petrol stations and with online grocery deliveries from Wednesday 27th January to Tuesday 3rd May. Please do start collecting and encourage your family and friends to do likewise. They can either be placed in the box near the school office or just popped in your child’s Friday bag.
Early Morning Club
Parents using early morning club will find invoices in today’s Friday bag if applicable, along with a booking sheet should you wish to pay in advance. Cheques should be made payable to Lancashire County Council. Many thanks.
Safer Internet Day
Safer Internet Day is on Tuesday 9th February this year, with the theme “Play your part for a better internet”. Children will take part in related activities that day. There are a range of links in the Parent Advice section of our website to help with E-Safety. We are also holding an internet safety information session for Leck and Hornby parents at Hornby School 6-7pm. This will be led by a local authority consultant, please do come along if you can, it will be very informative. Many thanks.
Convert used stamps into cash for charity The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) is encouraging people to send in used postage stamps so they can be converted into cash. The stamps are an extra source of income for the charity that needs £4m to run the service every year. Each single stamp has a small value but in large quantities they can be valuable. Please bring your used stamps into school and Alison Dunnington will collect them up and send them on. Many thanks.
