Friday 12th February
Newsletter – Friday 12th February 2016
Welcome
Children may have seen Mrs Dyson in the office today, Mrs Dyson will be starting in school on Monday 22nd February and we are sure you’ll all join us in giving her a very warm Leck School welcome!
Mrs Dutton has completed her first week in afterschool club and we look forward to many more fun sessions that she will run.
Online Safety We were disappointed that, out of a possible 60 families, there were only three people at the information session on Tuesday evening. The increasing use of internet connected devices and new forms of social media come with positives and negatives for both adults and children. Even if you know about the latest trends and have already adjusted your own and home security settings you can still visit our webpage for further links and advice as technology is constantly changing.
Infants Forest School
It’s Forest School here at Leck on the first day back, Monday 22nd February. We will be looking at new growth as part of our topic work and will be clearing the pond area, doing some planting and using our mud kitchen again. Please make sure children have really warm outdoor clothing (lots of layers please), sturdy boots or wellies. Children will be having a packed lunch which school will provide.
Swimming
The junior children who currently go swimming (yr 3, 4 & 5) will be starting lifesaving on Monday 22nd February. They will need to bring pyjamas or similar light clothing for the next few weeks, as well as their usual kit. No onesies please.
Parents Evening
Our spring term round of Parents Meeting will take place on Wednesday 2nd March 3.300-5.30pm and Thursday 3rd March from 6.00– 8.00pm. Parents are invited to sign up for their preferred date and time on the appointment sheets which will be displayed on the noticeboard in the school hall from Monday 22nd February (First day back after half term). Parents can telephone the office to book an appointment if this is more convenient.
Gardening Club
Just a reminder that Mrs Mather will be running an after school gardening club on Tuesdays from Tuesday 23rd February. The club will run until 4.15pm and children will need to bring wellies and old clothes/overalls to wear. If you haven’t already returned your permission slip and your child/ren would like to come along please speak to Mrs Mather, thanks.

Two children from Leck School have been invited to take part in a collective worship conference at Ewood Park football ground, home of Blackburn Rovers. This will take place on Friday 26th February. They will be travelling with children from other local schools in a bus supplied by Arkholme School. An information sheet for the pupils involved in enclosed in this week’s Friday bag, please note it will be an early start that day and children will need to be dropped off and collected from Arkholme School.
Governor Vacancy
We need a parent governor, unfortunately no one has come forward so we are extending the invitation to grandparents, neighbours or anyone that has children, even if they are grown up. Please spread the word and let us know if you have someone in mind. Anyone looking for more information of what being a governor involves please contact the office or talk to Jayne Davies our chair of governors.
