Newsletter – 9th December 2016

Apologies
Firstly can I apologise for the error in last week’s newsletter regarding the dates for the Chapel Christmas Service. The dates and times are actually as follows:

Chapel Christmas Service
Wendy Thornton, chapel minister, has invited families to Cowan Bridge Methodist Chapel on Thursday 15th December at 3.30pm for a Christmas service. We are able to walk children down with our after school club children, if required-please let us know. The service will be finished by 4.30pm.

Leck St. Peter’s Church Carol Service
Don’t forget, there will be the annual Carol Service at Leck Church on Tuesday 20th December from 6.30pm.  We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.

Christmas Performance
Although seats will be limited for the performances and the hall could be somewhat cramped (!) everybody who requested to come, either Wednesday afternoon or Wednesday evening, are able to do so.
Children will be sent home with their costumes and should arrive dressed back at school by 5.45pm. As a reminder, performance times are as follows:
Wednesday 14th December at 2.00pm and 6.00pm
Following the evening performance the PTFA will be serving mulled wine, mince pies and drinks in the junior classroom. The PTFA would welcome any donations of mince pies (homemade or bought!) from any parents that would like to bring them to share alongside the drinks. We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.

Reminder: PTFA Christmas Hamper Goodies
The PFTA will be holding a raffle at the end of the evening Christmas Performance. Donations of items such as biscuits, chocolates, jams, bottles, gifts and toys will be gratefully received. Please drop your donations in the decorated box outside the school office on Monday. Tickets for the raffle will be available at the Christmas Production.

Reminder: Pinocchio
The whole school will be visiting “Pinocchio” at the Dukes Theatre, Lancaster on the morning of Tuesday 20th December. Due to the generosity of the PTFA, parents will only have £4.50 to pay for this fabulous trip, so if you haven’t already, please send your payments in by Monday 12th December please.
A full information sheet will follow next week but junior parents should note that their child/ren will need a packed lunch that day.

Party Day!
The annual whole school Christmas Party Day will be on our last day of term, Wednesday 21st December. Normal school lunch arrangements will continue that day and instead, we are asking parents to provide a snack for the children to enjoy during the afternoon. There is a sign-up sheet of party foods / snack items in the entrance hall opposite the office so please do put your name against the food item you wish to provide- many thanks.

Infant Cooking Classes
Infant cooking sessions will continue after Christmas starting on Monday 9th January. As usual, the children will be cooking in pairs, on a rota basis, on Monday mornings. The first half terms bake will be “Cookie Dough Pizza”.  In this week’s bag you will find a letter from Mrs Mather with full details.

Junior Golf Club
Nick Barron, the golf pro from Bentham Golf Club will once again be running the “Junior Golf Club” starting on Wednesday 11th January from 3.15-4.15pm. We will ask you to confirm attendance when we come back after Christmas, but in the meantime put this date in your diary.
