Newsletter – 6th January 2017
Welcome Back!
A very Happy New Year to you and your families and we hope that you all enjoyed the festivities over the holidays! We would all just like to say a big thank you to all the children and parents who sent in lovely cards and gifts for the staff at Christmas – they were very much appreciated!
School Dinners
For those parents who wish to pay for their children’s school meals up to half term, this will be at a cost of £72.60 (Wednesday 4th January to Friday 17th February = 33 meals @ £2.20 per meal) Cheques should be made payable to Lancashire County Council – thank you. Any credits from last term will be carried forward as usual. We will send out invoices as necessary.
School Uniform
There will be a school uniform order going through in the next couple of weeks, if anybody would like anything ordering please pick up an order form from the office. Thank you.
Jewellery
We’ve began to notice some children coming in to school wearing necklaces, chains, bracelets etc. Please note, for health and safety reasons they are not permitted. We also ask that children only wear stud earrings (that they can remove themselves) and not hoops or dangly earrings for the same reasons.
Healthy Snacks
Please may we politely remind all parents of junior children to send HEALTHY snacks in for break time, we are increasingly seeing children with crisps and chocolates. Please can we also ask that these snacks are left handy (i.e. in coat pockets) for the children.
Infant Cooking Classes
Infant cooking sessions will continue after Christmas starting on Monday 9th January. As usual, the children will be cooking in pairs, on a rota basis, on Monday mornings. Full details were sent out last term but a sheet has been put in the two children’s bags who are baking this Monday as a reminder.
Nick Barron Golf Club
Nick Barron, the Golf Professional from Bentham Golf Club, will be starting his popular after school club again on Wednesday 11th January at 3.15pm. The club will be for juniors only. School will be funding this club so there is no charge for it. Please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter if your child(ren) would like to attend.
Swimming
Swimming sessions will re-commence on Monday 16th January, please remember to bring your kit into school.
Infants Forest School
Our first forest school this term will be Monday 16th January, and we will be continuing with a winter exploring theme.
Height & Weight Check
Children in Year 6 and Reception will be taking part in this year’s national measurement programme on Wednesday 18th January. If you are happy for your child to take part, you do not need to do anything. If you do not wish for your child to be involved, please phone 01524 406495. For parents of those children involved, there is a full information leaflet enclosed in this week’s Friday bag.
Edinburgh Residential Visit
Looking forward to the summer months already and, in particular, the residential visit to Edinburgh in June! Just to remind parents that the final balance will need to be paid by the end of March. Regular payments, or indeed full payment, can be made anytime between now and then using the envelopes previously provided. If anyone has lost or mislaid their envelope, please do let us know as we can produce more to enable you to keep track of your payments.
