Newsletter – 20th January 2017

National Literacy Week
Next week is National Literacy Week, which we will be celebrating at the beginning of the week with a visit from Lancashire Library Services who have planned workshops including poetry, twisted tales and animal stories.
On Tuesday, the Upper Juniors will have a Shakespeare day (more information below) and the Lower Juniors and Infants will have a “Shaun Tan” morning, followed by watching the Roald Dahl classic “The BFG” in the afternoon. The film is a PG certified film, so please do let us know if you’d rather your child NOT watch it.

Mini Macbeth Play in a Day
On Tuesday 24th January two workshop leaders will visit years 5 & 6 and, supported by a pre-written script and some props and costumes, will use workshop style lessons in the morning and afternoon to format a performance which will then be presented to other pupils and parents of those involved at the end of the school day, we hope you can all make it. We are sharing this day with Hornby children too.

Chinese New Year
On Monday 30th January the infants will be celebrating Chinese New Year. We’ll be doing crafts and playing games, as well as sampling some delicious food. We will also be learning the history of the New Year and their customs.
