World Book Day
Thursday 2nd March 2017 – World Book Day is a day set aside every year to celebrate reading, books, authors and illustrators. A key aim to World Book Day is to give every child in the UK a book of their own to keep and in this week’s bag, you will find a £1 World Book Day token which can be exchanged for one of eight exclusive World Day Books. Booksellers all over the UK are participating in the scheme so you can find your local bookshop at www.booksellers.org.uk/bookshopsearch. Vouchers are valid between 27th February and 26th March 2017. We are asking all children to bring in their favourite book to share on the day.

Parent Help Morning
Saturday 4th March – from 9.30am. Parent help would be greatly appreciated at school, with some tidying and general maintenance jobs including painting the playhouse. We intend to start from 9.30am onwards and be finished by 12noon. Well behaved, helpful children are always welcome to come along too!

Parents Evening
Our spring term round of Parents Meeting will take place on Thursday 9th March 3.30-8.00pm. Parents are invited to sign up for their preferred time on the appointment sheets which will be displayed on the noticeboard in the school hall from Monday 27th February (the first Monday back after half term).
Parents can telephone the office to book an appointment if this is more convenient.

Swimming
You may have heard that Hornby Swimming Pool is due to close on March 31st; we haven’t been told officially yet, but we are making arrangements for alternative provisions.
Swimming sessions will continue at Hornby until the closure – recommencing on Monday 27th February with life-saving skills, please remember to bring your pyjamas, which should have long sleeves and long trousers if possible.

Labelling Uniform & Kit
Please ensure that all items of uniform and PE kit/trainers are named. We have some garments missing in school, particularly Gracie’s jumper which is labelled.  Please could parents check at home if they have it by mistake.  Thank you in advance.

After School Club
The after school club are seeking “new to them” board games and jigsaws, so if you happen to have a clear out over the half term please leave any donations in the office or with Mrs Dutton. Thank you.

Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers
We’re still collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers, please drop them in the box outside the office or via your child’s Friday bag.
