3rd March 2017
Parent Help Morning
Saturday 4th March – from 9.30am. Parent help would be greatly appreciated at school tomorrow – with some tidying and general maintenance jobs including painting the playhouse. We would be grateful if you could bring some paintbrushes and general gardening tools with you, if you have them. We intend to start from 9.30am onwards and be finished by 12noon. Well behaved, helpful children are always welcome to come along too!
School Dinners
For those parents who wish to pay for their children’s school meals up to half term, this will be at a cost of £66.00 (Monday 27th February to Friday 7th April = 30 meals @ £2.20 per meal) Cheques should be made payable to Lancashire County Council – thank you. Any credits from last term will be carried forward as usual. We will send out invoices as necessary.
Year 6 Kayaking the Lune
We will be taking the Year 6 children on a journey from Devil’s Bridge to Gressingham Bridge on Thursday 9th March. This will be led by instructors from Tower Wood Outdoor Centre and Mr Stafford-Roberts. Please return the reply slip at the end of this newsletter to show you are aware of this trip. Information sheets are included in this week’s bag. Parents Evening Parents meetings will take place on Thursday 9th March 3.30-8.00pm. Please remember to sign up to your preferred time if you haven’t already. Parents can telephone the office to book an appointment if this is more convenient.
Science Week
Please can all children bring an empty clean jam jar for Monday 13th March as part of our science week activities.
Go Orange for Orangutans – Assembly and Cake Sale
The Upper Juniors have been working on an assembly which they hope will raise awareness of the effect of Palm Oil plantations on orangutan populations. The children have produced some information which is in your Friday bags telling you some of the facts they have learnt. They would like to invite you to an assembly at 2.45pm on Thursday 16th March. The children are very keen to dress for the occasion in orange. However, this may be difficult so we have compromised with a “token of orange” e.g. hair colour, the odd item of clothing, hat etc. The children would also like to raise some money for the “Go Orange Appeal” and would like to have a cake sale after the assembly. Therefore, we are asking if you would be so kind as to provide some cakes we can sell, with an orange theme if possible. What really made us proud was the fact that all this has come from the children themselves, we as staff have just helped them facilitate their ideas.
Congratulations
For those of you who haven’t heard, Mrs Mather is expecting a baby, due to arrive towards the end of summer! I’m sure you’ll all join us in offering her your congratulations. We will let you know about staffing changes in the near future.
Craft Projects
We’re on the hunt for kitchen roll inserts, if any parents can help by sending some in, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
School Term Dates
In this week’s bag, parents will find a copy of next year’s term dates and holiday pattern, this replaces any previous copy you may have or have seen. This, as always, is available to view on our school website.
