Autumn Term – Edition 1

Welcome Back – to a new school year, we hope you all had an enjoyable summer holiday! Firstly, we would like to say a huge thank you from all the staff for our lovely end of year gifts – we are still enjoying the sweet treats you brought us. .

New Faces – welcome to our new children; Isaac who has joined us in year 4 and our nursery children, who will all join us over the next week, Thomas, Ruby, Euan, Holly, Harriet, Lucy and Jake. We are sure they will all be very happy here at Leck.

School Dinners – parents of children who have a school dinner will find an invoice in their Friday bag each week for the cost of the meals (except our infant children of course). Some of you may prefer to pay in advance whilst others may wish to pay weekly- the choice is yours! The cost is £2.20 per day. If you wish to pay for school dinners up to half term, the cost will be £74.80 (34 days @ £2.20 day) per child. Cheques should be made payable to: Lancashire County Council.

Breakfast / Afterschool Clubs – sessions have resumed from 8am to 8.45am and 3.15pm to 6.00pm daily. Don’t forget, parents can bring their child/ren on an ad-hoc basis, simply turn up on the day to either of the clubs. Booking is not essential but please find enclosed a booking form so that parents who wish to book in advance can.

Friday Bags – we thought it might be useful to remind you of how newsletters, school visit details and any other information is communicated. Each Friday, a bag will be sent home via your eldest child in school. This bag contains a variety of information for you to read and, in some cases, act upon. Please empty your bag on receipt ready for returning back to school every Monday. You can use the bag to safely return any reply slips, completed forms and money, if any has been requested. Any money that you do send into school must be in a clearly marked envelope with your child’s full name and what the money is for. It is important to ensure that your child knows to bring back and hand in their bags each Monday

Forms, Forms, Forms – at this time of year we have to send home a number of forms to check that we are holding all the correct information about our pupils.  Enclosed in the bags this week is a form titled Parental/Carer Consent and Medical Information Form for Educational Visits and Adventurous Activities.  This form is for the whole academic year and will cover local and low risk visits made by the children, for example, museum visits, local school visits, local walks and days out.  For anything else, such as residential or farm visits, we will seek further permission from you.  Although you are only completing one form for all the low risk activities we will send home an information sheet each time to keep you informed of the activities. Also included in the bag is a Pupil Data Collection Sheet for each child.  This form will be used to update the information we currently hold on the school database for your child(ren).  It is important we have the most up-to-date information, so please do let us know if anything changes during the year.

Class Newsletters – in this week’s bag, you will have separate infant and/or junior autumn term class newsletters giving you specific information on the focus of studies for this term. .

Infant Cooking Classes – will resume on Monday 11th September starting off with Neve, Thomas & Megan. The infants will be cooking in groups, on a rota basis, on Monday mornings.
