Autumn Term – Edition 6

Junior Residential – we plan to take all the junior children on a residential visit to Arnside from Wednesday 4th July to Friday 6th July 2018. There was a letter from Mr Stafford-Roberts regarding this trip in all the junior children’s Friday bags last week. Please complete the form on the back of the letter and return with your deposit before the end of term on Thursday please. We appreciate that the trip may seem a while away but we need to confirm numbers and begin payment plans soon.

Home – School Agreement – enclosed in this week’s Friday bag is our annual Home-School Agreement which we are legally bound, by the government, to agree with parents. This agreement is reviewed by both the school governors and with the school council.
Please discuss the agreement with your child at the level you feel they will understand, sign and return to school, thank you.

Internet Acceptable Use Agreement – we haven’t shared this agreement for quite some time, so we thought we would take the opportunity this term to do so. The agreement clearly outlines what we deem to be ‘acceptable use’ and outlines how pupils should only be using the system in a responsible way, to ensure that there is no risk to their safety or to the safety and security of the systems and any other users. Please discuss the agreements with your child and what they mean both in school and at home too, sign and return to school, thank you.

KS2 Cross Country – some of our junior children will be taking part in a cross country event at Tatham Fells CE Primary School along with other local schools on Monday 16th October. Parents of those children involved will find a full information sheet in this week’s Friday bag. Please note the early start, the bus will be leaving Leck at 8.45am so please arrive at school slightly early, thank you.

Tower Wood – we will be once again be visiting Tower Wood Outdoor Centre, along with children from Hornby St. Margaret’s. The infant children will go on Thursday 2nd November and junior children will be going on Friday 3rd November. This activity centre on the shores of Lake Windermere offers a wide range of both land and water based activities, perfect for a day’s adventure! There will be no charge for these trips, school will be covering the cost of both transport and instructors. Children should wear their own warm clothes, outdoor shoes or boots and will need a waterproof coat. Waterproof trousers would also be useful if they have them. They will require a packed lunch on the day they are going. We have a full day planned and will not be back at school until about 5.15pm on each day. Please let us know if your child(ren) need after school club at the end of the day. An information sheet regarding these trips is included. Should anyone have any concerns or queries about these trips please speak to Mr Stafford-Roberts.

Bills, Bills, Bills – with the half term in sight, please can you make sure all accounts are up to date. We would appreciate if all outstanding invoices could be paid by Monday 16th October to allow for banking. Any credits for the half term will be carried forward as usual. I have enclosed copies of overdue invoices in today’s Friday bag, please settle ASAP. As always, a huge thank you to all who promptly pay their invoices, it really is a massive help to us in the office.

Boxes of Hope – in your Friday bags you will find a leaflet about the Boxes of Hope Cumbria Charity who run a shoebox appeal supporting children in Romania. We would really appreciate you joining with us to support this charity and have organised a collection from Hornby St Margaret’s School. Please note that this means all shoeboxes must be here at Leck ready for collection by Thursday 2nd November, this will enable us to deliver them to Hornby in time. You can drop boxes off in the hall or by the office whichever is easiest for you. Thank you in anticipation of you joining with us to bring hope to children and families in need.

Parents Evening – thank you to all those parents who attended the parents evening on Wednesday. Please remember if at any other time you would like to speak to a teacher about your child you can arrange a mutually convenient appointment for after school.

Bag2School – please return all bags by 9am Monday. Items can just be placed in a black bin liner if you run out of Bag2School bags. Thank you.

Light Party – on Tuesday 31st October, there will be a Light Party at Fraser Hall, Cowan Bridge from 4pm – 6pm. The party will be run by Lauren Platt, the new Church of England youth worker. Children and families are very welcome to come and have fun, do crafts and play games and lots more while learning about Jesus being the light.
