Autumn Term – Edition 14

Staffing News – we are pleased to tell you Miss Bartle has accepted the offer of infant Teaching Assistant and will be starting on Monday 8th January, joining Mrs Mather who is starting back following her maternity leave, just on Mondays in the first instance, reverting to her usual working pattern after Easter.
Unfortunately, at present time, we have had no applicants for the After School Club Manager position; we are currently exploring other options for after school provision, if you do know anyone who may be interested please tell them to get in touch as soon as possible.

Christmas Performance – I’m sure you’ll all agree how fantastically well the children all did to pull out 2 show stopping performances. It was lovely to see so many families, relatives and friends enjoying the children’s performance.
A very big thank you and well done to all the teachers, staff and kind volunteers who gave up their valuable time to rehearsals and making costumes and scenery.

Thank You – a message from the PTFA – we would just like to say a great big thank you to everyone who donated towards the Christmas raffle, we managed to raise a total of £220.81 (on the sale of the raffle tickets and the disco last week), which is fantastic! Thank you again for your continued support over the last year, and on behalf of myself and the rest of the PTFA we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Party Day! – our annual whole school Christmas Party Day will be on Wednesday 20th December. Normal school lunch arrangements will continue that day and instead, we are asking parents to provide a snack for the children to enjoy during the afternoon. If you haven’t already done so, please sign-up to which party foods / snack items you would like to provide in the entrance hall opposite the office – many thanks.

Leck St. Peter’s Church Carol Service – our annual Carol Service at Leck Church is on Wednesday 20th December from 6.30pm. We look forward to seeing as many parents, grandparents and friends of school there as possible. If your child has been given a reading or prayer, please read over it with them this weekend – (we are not expecting children to be word perfect, just an understanding of the prayer or reading they have been given).

Chapel Christmas Service – Wendy Thornton, chapel minister, has invited families to Cowan Bridge Methodist Chapel on our last day of term, Thursday 21st December at 3.30pm for a Christmas service. We will walk children down from after school club to join in; please let us know if this is required. The service will be finished by 4.30pm.

School Admissions September 2018 – primary school applications close on Monday 15th January 2018, please apply via your local county council website, if this is Lancashire County Council visit www.lancashire.gov.uk and search “school admissions”. Parents will be informed of places on Monday 16th April 2018.
Any parents of children due to start nursery in September 2018, or if you know of anyone who may be interested in our nursery, can pick up an application form from the office.

Bills, Bills, Bills – school meal bills are enclosed for this week and next, with the end of term approaching, we would appreciate it if these are settled by Monday 18th December to allow for banking. Any credits from this half term will be carried forward as usual.
Invoices for Early Morning and After School Club are included in the relevant Friday bags. All cheques should be made payable to Lancashire County Council please. Payments for both clubs can be added together. If you are using the Early Morning Club on an adhoc basis it would be appreciated if you would bring the payment of £1 per session with you. Any After School Club bills from this week and next will come in the first Friday bag of 2018. Thank you.

Bags! – please could all infant children bring in a carrier bag next week to bring home their various art and craft projects made this term.

School Vacancy – the school is currently advertising for an After School Club Manager to start after Christmas, to replace Mrs Dutton. This can be seen on the Lancashire school vacancies website if any qualified parents are interested in applying.

And Finally…… as this is the last newsletter of the term, may I, Mr Stafford Roberts, all teachers and staff wish you and your families a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year! We look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 8th January 2018!
