Newsletter – Friday 9th February
Spring Term – Edition 19
Church Service – thank you to everyone who made it to the Church Service, it was lovely to see so many of you. We would also like to say a huge thank you to our worship team, Mrs Tidd and Mrs Platt for planning and ensuring the smooth running of the service.
Internet Safety Week – this week the children participated in a range of activities, including a morning of workshops with Mr Harris from Lancaster University, based around this year’s theme: “Create, connect and share respect: A better internet starts with you”.
Under the parent section of our website, there are documents and links regarding online safety, which you may find useful.
World Book Day – Thursday 1st March 2018 – World Book Day is a day set aside every year to celebrate reading, books, authors and illustrators. A key aim to World Book Day is to give every child in the UK a book of their own to keep and in this week’s bag, you will find a £1 World Book Day token which can be exchanged for one of ten exclusive World Day Books. Booksellers all over the UK are participating in the scheme so you can find your local bookshop at www.booksellers.org.uk/bookshopsearch. Vouchers are valid between 26th February and 25th March 2018.
We are asking all children to come to school dressed as their favourite book character and bring in their favourite book to share on the day.
After School Provision – at this week’s Governing Body meeting it was decided that we should endeavour to reinstate After School provision in the school but in a way that is more sustainable and manageable for the school. This will take time, it is not a straightforward issue, and so in the meantime the arrangement we have established with Kidz will continue.
If you have any ideas, thoughts, views or comments I am happy to receive them and feed them into the working group established to look at how we can take this matter forward.

School Council Talent Show – in today’s bag, you will find a leaflet from the school council, who are in the process of organising a talent show to show off the varied talents of the children at Leck. If you are happy for your child/ren to participate, please return the reply slip to us by Friday 23rd February.
Film Club – our first film will be Moana, which we will watch over the course of the first 2 weeks – please note this is a PG rated film.
School Vacancy – the school is currently advertising for a Part Time Welfare Assistant (3 hours) – every Wednesday & Thursday – term time only from 11.45am to 1.15pm. Lancashire County Council currently pay the Living Wage of £8.25 per hour. Please share with any friends or family members you feel may be interested. Thank you.
