Spring Term – Edition 22

Thank you to all the mums who came and joined our special Mother’s Day Teas on Monday, the children had a lovely afternoon. We would also like to say thank you for coming along to our parents meetings on Wednesday, we really do value this opportunity to chat with parents, please remember if you have any concerns or questions regarding your child, you can come and speak to us at any time.

Annual Parental Questionnaire – the Parental Questionnaire is in your child’s Friday bag today, please can you complete and return to school no later than Monday 19th March 2018. Thank you.

Life Education Bus – once again, the Life Education Bus will be visiting school on Monday. Parents are more than welcome to attend a specifically planned session on Monday 12th March at 8.55am to 9.10am to hear more about the programme.

Rewind to Easter – our year 5 children have been invited to a “Rewind to Easter” workshop at High Bentham Methodist Church on Tuesday 21st March. Parents of those children involved will find an information sheet in this week’s bag.

Upper Junior Caving Day – our year 5 & 6 children will be experiencing an introduction to caving on Thursday 15th March. An experienced instructor from Tower Wood Outdoor Centre will lead, along with Mr Stafford-Roberts and will take place at a cave in the Yorkshire Dales chosen by the instructor, dependant on the weather. Parents of the children involved will find a full information sheet in this week’s bag. Please come and see Mr Stafford-Roberts if you have any queries or concerns.

Parent Help MorningSaturday 17th March – from 9.30am. Parent help would be greatly appreciated at school – we will be clearing the pond & garden, filling in some potholes on the driveway, as well as some general maintenance jobs. We intend to start from 9.30am onwards and finish by lunchtime. It would be great to see as many of you there as possible – well behaved, helpful children are always welcome to come along too!

School Council Talent Show – the school council have been hard at work producing a talent show, on this occasion it is not for parents, but following the smooth running, we may hold another one towards the end of the school year. The show will be on Tuesday 20th March – please ensure all children involved bring along all instruments, props, music and costumes that morning – many thanks.  

Easter Activity Day – 28th March 2018 – the children will need to bring in their decorated egg entry. There will be prizes for infants, lower juniors and upper juniors. They will also need a hardboiled egg for pace egging in the afternoon.

As usual, there will be activities in the morning and in the afternoon there is the egg challenge, followed by the Easter Egg Hunt, with a separate Easter Egg Hunt for toddlers, nursery and reception children.

Any pre-school children that might want to join in the Easter Egg Hunt are welcome to join us at 2.30pm. The day ends with our pace egg competition.

Decorated Egg Competition – On Easter Activity Day this year, our decorated egg competition theme is The Royal Wedding.

PTFA Easter Bunny Drive – please find enclosed a leaflet from the PTFA regarding the bunny drive which will take place on Thursday 22nd March at 6.30pm.

Film Club – next week’s film club film will be The Son of Bigfoot.

Reminder: PTFA – the PTFA will meet at Rachel’s house on Monday 12th March at 2.15pm – please do try to attend. Thank you to those who sent back replies as to what you would like to see happen in school – we will have a look through these replies and try to get some events in the pipeline.

The Disciples: Our School Worship Team – apologies, you should have had a blank certificate in last week’s Friday bag – please find enclosed today.

Cancer Research UK – in light of Mrs Chesters’ illness, please find enclosed a tube to fill with 20ps (if you wish) once filled the tube can be brought back into school and we will send them on all together. Some of the children have also expressed an interest in fundraising for the charity, which we will look into further in the summer term.
