Newsletter – 20th April 2018
Summer Term – Edition 25
Welcome back, we hope you all had a lovely Easter break and have come back refreshed and relaxed ready for the busy term ahead.
We had a very busy end to term with all children enjoying taking part in our various Science Day activities throughout the day on Monday. The Year 5 & 6s then had great fun – and learnt many useful road sense skills – at Bikeability training on Wednesday & Thursday.
On Thursday, the children took part in Easter activities in throughout the morning, worked hard to meet the team challenge of building a bridge for their egg and enjoyed the egg hunt and pace egg competition in the afternoon – a great day was had by all!
Easter Service – a huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Easter Service, I’m sure you will all agree the children did a fantastic job. We would also like to say a big thank you to Mrs Browne and Mrs Tidd for all their planning and ensuring the smooth running of the production.
Class Newsletter – in this week’s bag, you will have separate infant and/or junior summer term newsletters giving you specific information for the term ahead.
Forest School – resumes at school on Monday for all infants and nursery children (any bakers this week will bake on Tuesday). At the moment it is looking like children will need waterproofs and wellies with warm socks – please ensure they come with plenty of layers (hats, scarves and gloves too), but just send in appropriately dressed for our ever changing weather!
Ethos & Spirituality Day – our Y4 children will be taking part in a cluster Ethos & Spirituality with other local schools on Thursday 26th April. All children involved will find a full information sheet enclosed in today’s bag with more details.
Infants Williamsons Park – as part of our mini beast topic we will be taking the infants to Williamsons Park on Monday 30th April. We are booked in for animal handling, the butterfly house tour and a mini beast hunt. We are asking for any parent volunteers who could help us to transport the children to and from Williamsons Park in order to subside the cost of the trip to parents. Please let us know on Monday if you will be able to help. If we travel by bus, the cost of the trip would be £17.50, and we would be asking for a donation of £10.00, if we can get volunteers to travel to and from with the children the cost will be subsidised to £5.00. Any queries please come and talk to Mrs Mather, thank you.
Summer Term *New Menu* – please find enclosed our new summer term menu, which we will be starting on Monday 30th April on week 2. If your child/ren are not currently having school meals but would like to on sight of the delicious options on the menu, please let us know in the office and we will amend our meal choice sheets to include your child/ren. They can have a mixture of packed lunch and school meals during the week, we just ask that the days are consistent for example Monday and Friday each week packed lunch the other days school meals. Please come and see me in the office if you have any questions.
The Disciples: Our School Worship Team – the value for this half term is ‘Hope’. Each week one child per class will receive a certificate during praise assembly for demonstrating the value in school. Enclosed in this week’s bag is a certificate for parents to fill out when children show this value at home, it can be filled out and returned to school anytime between now and the end of this half term.
Afterschool Club – Future Use – enclosed in your Friday bag you will find a short questionnaire from the Wraparound Care committee regarding any possible future use of an after school club. We would really appreciate as many parents views as possible, please return them to us by Wednesday 25th April.
PTFA – the next PTFA meeting will be held on Monday 30th April at 2.15pm, in school – please do come along as we will be organising and planning for the summer term ahead.
