Summer Term – Edition 29

This week has seen the Y6 children take their SATs, and we are extremely proud of the way the children have approached these tests. All week they have been mature and positive and we know that they have all tried their very best, which is all that we ask of them. Thank you Y6 for your hard work.
On Wednesday a couple of our Y5 children had the pleasure of attending a ‘Big Lunch’ to hear stories from the Eden Projects ‘Big Walkers’ and on Friday a group of our Upper Juniors attended a Kwik Cricket tournament at Over Kellet Primary School where they all played extremely well.

The following weeks now get busy with day trips, sporting events, the Arnside residential and other activities to complement daily class teaching.

Walking in the Kingdom of Light Event – children from Y3 & 4 have been invited to take part in this event, which is being organised by Mrs Sue Yardy.  The stations will include different aspects of the Lord’s Prayer, the seven ‘I am’ Statements and other stations related to the theme and is being held at Bentham Methodist Church.

PTFA – children can come to school in non-school uniform on the last day of term (25th May) for a charge of £1. There will also be a tuck shop at the end of the school day selling sweets in 50p or 20p bags and ice pops. Any volunteers available from 3pm to help sell would be greatly appreciated – please let Rachel know.

Y5 Global Day – children from Y5 have been invited to join other local schools in Global Day on Wednesday 6th June. A full information sheet will be included in next week’s Friday bag for all Y5 children.

Kwik Cricket Tournament at Westgate & Torrisholme Cricket Club – the Upper Juniors will be taking part in a Kwik Cricket competition at Westgate and Torrisholme Cricket Club on Thursday 7th June, a full information sheet will be included in next week’s Friday bag for those children involved.

Leck Playgroup Visit – Leck playgroup will be visiting school on Friday 15th June from 9.30am – 11.30am, please feel free to stay with younger siblings and tell any friends and family members to come along too.

Messy Church – Leck Church, Sunday 20th May @ 11am – a short service, combined with activities, crafts and children’s games led by Rev Mark Cannon. Everyone welcome.

Church News – following on from the survey we carried out last year we have begun to make a number of changes at Leck St Peter’s Church.
We are going to install a toilet into the vestry and a small brew station at the back of church, in addition to this we are also planning to remove some pews. This will make church much more user friendly to all but we are also hoping it may be a useful place for the teachers and pupils to use for a variety of activities.

We recognize that to keep the church alive and well used we have to move with the times!!! Or at the very least provide essential facilities.

This project of course brings with it a whole raft of fundraising activities, the first being:

A Fun Quiz Night on Friday 1st June
