Summer Term – Edition 31

We hope you all had a lovely half term and are refreshed and ready for the busy term ahead.
We’ve started with a very busy week, the Y5 children went to Over Kellet to take part in ‘Global Day’ on Wednesday and some of the Upper Junior children took part in the Kwik Cricket competition on Thursday. We also saw the start of two new after school clubs, Fitness Fun & Mindfulness Colouring, which the children taking part in all thoroughly enjoyed.

Arnside Residential Parents’ Information Evening – Mr Stafford-Roberts is holding an information session for all parents of pupils going on the Arnside Residential Trip in July.  The meeting is being held at Hornby St Margaret’s in the school hall on Tuesday 12th June at 6pm, please try to attend.

Whole School Photo – any last minute orders for the whole school photo can be ordered online, before Monday 11th June. The cost is £11.50.

Leck Playgroup Visit – Leck playgroup will be visiting school on Friday 15th June from 9.30am – 11.30am, please feel free to stay with younger siblings and tell any friends and family members to come along too.

Arts Week – 25th June 2018 – we are seeking any artistic volunteers who could kindly donate an hour or two of their time to come in and share some of their arty skills with all the children during the week (commencing 25th June), please see a member of staff if you are able to help. Thank you in advance.

After School Provision – as you will know, the Governing Body has been looking at the possible ways it can re-introduce After School Provision without making unreasonable demands on general school resources.  We have been trying to do this at a time of adverse pressure on school budgets and this has reduced further our ability to support any activity that does not cover its costs. We are aware that there is demand for After School Provision at school but the numbers who use the provision regularly and frequently are low and they would not generate enough income to cover the costs involved. At this point in time, the school is not in a financial position to subsidise any costs.
With all of this in mind, the governors, at their last meeting on 24th May, voted not to reinstate After School Provision at the present time.
This will be a disappointing outcome for many including, it is fair to say, all on the Governing Body but the school will be periodically organising clubs and activities after school. These will be ‘advertised’ through the newsletter. A reminder too that the present arrangement with Kidz Day Nursery is still in place.

The Disciples: Our School Worship Team – the value for this half term is ‘Responsibility’. Each week one child per class will receive a certificate during praise assembly for demonstrating the value in school. Enclosed in this week’s bag is a certificate for parents to fill out when children show this value at home, it can be filled out and returned to school anytime between now and the end of term.

PTFA Meeting – will be meeting at school on Monday 11th June at 2.15pm, please join us as we will be discussing plans for the upcoming sponsored walk.

New Uniform Sale – Mrs Galley has a few brand new polo shirts available (all at half the original price), first come first served. Sizes are 32” & 34”. Please see or speak to Emma directly if you’d like to buy (07912103662).

The Book People – have left a new selection of books, they’re on the table outside the office. If you would like to order anything, please complete the form and hand your payment to me, he’ll be collecting next Friday. Thanks.

At the end of last term, a few of the junior girls set about making and selling hair braids, friendship bracelets and ankles straps to raise money for Cancer Research UK. They made £14.52, well done girls!
