14th September 2018

What a fabulous first full week back at school we’ve all had – we all enjoyed a great day out at Westmorland Show yesterday, seeing lots of different animals and sampling some wonderful food in the food hall. Some children were also lucky enough to speak to the Countess of Wessex.
Next week we are looking forward to swimming restarting at Hornby Pool and our first school council meeting with our 2018/2019 councillors.

Medical & Pupil Data Collection Forms – many thanks to all those who have completed these forms.  If you haven’t completed yours yet please return them as soon as possible.  It is very important that we have correct information available at all times, therefore, if any information changes throughout the school year, please do remember to update the school office. Please return all completed forms by Monday 17th September at the latest – thank you.  If you need new forms please let us know.

Morecambe Football Multi-Skills – sessions resumed last Tuesday, so please make sure your child’s PE kit and trainers are in school. Given our ever changing weather, please always ensure this includes tracksuit bottoms and a warm top just in case! Spare socks would also be useful in case of wet weather.

Junior Swimming – lessons begin this Thursday for years 3, 4 & 5 so please ensure that your child has their swimming kit with them, and every week. Boys should wear skin tight swimming trunks (not shorts), and girls should be wearing costumes with their hair tied back or swimming caps wherever possible. There is a goggles permission letter from Lune Valley Swimming Pool enclosed, if you wish your child to wear goggles please ensure the letter is signed and returned before Thursday.

Lost Uniform – Amelie has lost her jumper (it is named) please could all parents have a look over the weekend to ensure it hasn’t come home by mistake. Thank you.

PTFA – we would like to say a huge heartfelt THANK YOU to the wonderful PTFA and all who help organise, run and support the events they put on throughout the year. We have just kitted the yurt out with funds raised, thank you!

After School Clubs
We still have a number of spaces available for the Fitness & Golf after school club sessions which are open to ALL CHILDREN.
Nick Barron Golf Club – Nick started his popular after school club again last Wednesday.
We spoke to Nick last week about the possibility of KS1 children joining, and as he still has spaces available, we can now offer it to infants, so if any other children would like to sign up, please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter.
Fitness Fun Club – Mrs Eccleston is back – on a Monday afternoon from 17th September at 3.15-4.45pm. The club is open to all children, please return the reply slip at the bottom of the newsletter alongside payment of £25, thank you.
Games Club – Mrs Lawson will be running a games club on Tuesday and Friday afternoons, please see the flyer enclosed today for details on how to book.

Harvest Activity Day – our annual Harvest Activity Day will take place on Wednesday 26th September and we would be very grateful if children could bring into school any conkers, dry leaves, acorns, pressed leaves, circular pizza bases (card or polystyrene) and red, orange, yellow or brown wool or ribbon. They can bring these in the week beginning Monday 24th September. Thank you.

School Council – can all school council badges be returned to school by next week please. Thank you.

Water Bottles – from September, we would like to request that all children (including our nursery children) bring a water bottle into school to keep in their classroom. Thank you to all those who have already done so.
