28th September 2018

We’ve had a rather busy week in school this week, our school councillors from Y4, 5 & 6 came back with lots of tips and ideas for running a school council on Tuesday. On Wednesday afternoon, all children took part in the Harvest activity afternoon, which was full of autumnal crafts and baking.
Next week we are looking forward to the first of this year’s Forest School sessions for infants and cross-country at Tatham Fells Primary School.

Parents Meetings – don’t forget to sign up to the first parents evening of this school year, which is on Wednesday 10th October from 2.30-7.30pm (for juniors), infants will start at 3.30pm.  Parents can telephone the office to reserve their appointments if they can’t make it into school.

Residential Visit to Edinburgh – parents of children in Year 5 & 6 will have found enclosed in last weeks Friday bag a letter about the upcoming residential trip to Edinburgh.  Please complete the form on the back of the letter and return with your deposit as soon as possible.  We appreciate that the trip may seem a while away but we need to confirm numbers and begin payment plans soon.

Nasal Flu Vaccination Years R, 1, 2 3, 4 & 5 – in last week’s Friday bag, you will have received a letter from the NHS Immunisation team. They require you to indicate if you are happy or not for your child to be given the immunisation in school. If we don’t receive the form in time your child may not be able to have the vaccine.  Thank you to those already returned, please can the last few remaining be handed in by Monday.

KS2 Cross Country – some of our junior children will be taking part in a cross country event at Tatham Fells CE Primary School along with other local schools on Monday 1st October. Parents of those children involved will find a full information sheet in this week’s Friday bag.

Young Voices February 2019 – once again, we will be joining the Young Voices choir! This is a very exciting opportunity for our junior children to take part in the UK’s biggest school concert. The children will attend a rehearsal during the day with an evening concert, which parents can attend.   We need to confirm final numbers by Monday 1st October and therefore need to know if any children will not be able to attend.  Please complete the slip at the end of the newsletter and return in the bag on Monday.

Infant Forest School Visit – the infants will be continuing their Forest School Adventures on Monday with a visit to the wooded area here at Leck School. They will need appropriate outdoor clothing suitable for the weather.  If they have waterproof trousers please send them, as the ground is often damp even if it’s not actually raining.  Our school dinner children will be provided with a packed lunch and all will get their usual snack, so no need to send anything extra in.

Infants Hornby Castle – as part of our topic this term we will be taking the infants on a tour of Hornby Castle on Monday 8th October.  We are asking for any parent volunteers who could help us to transport the children to and from Hornby. Please let us know on Monday if you will be able to help. Any queries please come and talk to Mrs Mather, thank you.

School Photographsall the children had their photographs taken last week; the proofs are enclosed in this week’s Friday Bag.  Orders can be placed online by visiting www.picturemailorder.co.uk and using the username and password on your proof.  You can still order through school, but will have to send cash with the order not cheques.  All orders either online or through school need to be received by Friday 5th October at the very latest.

PTFA AGM – we will be holding our AGM in school on Monday from 2.15pm. It would be great if as many parents as possible could attend, particularly as we are actively seeking a chairperson and secretary.
We do have a few events in the pipeline, which we would also like to discuss, including film night, tuck shop, Christmas disco and a mufti day for Christmas raffle prizes.
