The infants thoroughly enjoyed their first forest school session – making catapults, bow and arrows and generally spending some quality time in the yurt.
Our KS2 cross-country runners did us all proud on Monday, and all came back smiling, so we hope they all enjoyed themselves!
Next week we are looking forward to visiting Hornby Castle on Monday with the infants from Hornby St Margaret’s, the KS2 enrichment day on Tuesday and welcoming parents into school for parents meetings on Wednesday.
Young Voices – 14th February 2019 – parents of junior children will find more information about the Young Voices Concert in this weeks Friday bag. We appreciate that February 2019 seems like a long time away but we are being driven by the organisers deadlines as it is a very popular event. Please do reply regarding audience tickets and t-shirts as soon as you can. More information can be found on their website, we hope you will agree that this is a fantastic opportunity for all of our junior children. http://www.youngvoices.co.uk
Infants Hornby Castle – many thanks to our parent helpers who have kindly agreed to transport children to and from Hornby, which means the trip can go ahead. A full information sheet is enclosed.
KS2 Enrichment Day – some of our upper junior children will be taking part in an ‘Enrichment Day’ at Hornby Institute on Tuesday morning. The focus is dance, music, art and ICT. The idea is to get like-minded children working together. We would appreciate it if any children who can make their own way to Hornby, please do so, we will meet at Hornby St Margaret’s from 8.30am, if this poses a problem, please see Mrs Knapp.
A full information sheet is enclosed for those children involved.
School Photographs – all orders, either online or through school, need to be received by next Monday (8th) at the very latest. Orders can be placed online by visiting www.picturemailorder.co.uk and using the username and password on your proof.
Walk to School Breakfast Trek – our first “Walk to School” of this academic year will be on Monday 15th October at 8.20am from Cowan Bridge Village Hall. Those taking part will be rewarded with a lovely breakfast. Please would all parents be aware that the “Walk to School” will only work if enough parents are willing to walk up to school with us.
After School Clubs –
Film Club – Mrs Mather’s ever-popular Film Club will be back after half term, starting on Monday 29th October from 3.15pm – 4.15pm. The cost is £1 per week (£7 for the half term). If your child wishes to attend, please sign the consent form at the bottom of the newsletter and return to us by Monday please.
Please note there will be no film club on the last Monday before Christmas (17th December).
Craft Club – Mrs Stalker will be running a craft club on Wednesday after school from 3.15pm to 4.15pm. The cost is £2.00 per session and will run for six consecutive weeks (£12 for the half term), starting on Wednesday 31st October. If your child wishes to attend, please sign the consent form at the bottom of the newsletter and return to us by Monday please.
Games Club – Mrs Lawson still has availability at her after school games club on Tuesday and Friday afternoons, please contact her on 07812503114 to book. This will be continuing after half term.
PTFA AGM – following the AGM on Monday, we have secured a new chair – Amanda Park, assisted by Viki Mather, Lynsey Elliott is the new secretary, with Rachel O’Reilly as treasurer.
Mufti-Day – next Friday (12th) children can come to school in non-school uniform for a charge of £1.00.
Film Night – the PTFA have arranged a film night for Thursday 18th from 3.15pm. Tickets are £2.00 (payable in advance please) and includes a sausage hotdog and juice. The tuck shop will also be open selling popcorn and sweets (bags of 20p & 50p). Please complete the slip at the bottom of the newsletter if your child would like to attend, please also indicate whether you will be in attendance.
Bag2School – please return all bags by 9am Tuesday. Items can just be placed in a black bin liner if you run out of Bag2School bags. Thank you
