2nd November 2018
We hope you all had a great half term and are all well rested and looking forward to the busy term ahead!
We’ve started straight off with a very busy week; at the time of writing our infants will have enjoyed an action packed day at Tower Wood, with our junior children looking forward to going tomorrow!
REMINDER: Home – School Agreement – before half term we sent out our Home-School agreement, please can they be returned to us ASAP. Thank you to those who have already brought them back in.
High 5 Trophy Event – some of our juniors from years 5 and 6 will be taking part in a High 5 netball tournament at Caton on Wednesday 7th November. If your child is involved in this, you will find a full information sheet in this week’s Friday bag.
Swimming – sessions will re-commence on Friday 9th November, from 1.30-2.00pm, please remember to bring your kit into school.
After School Clubs –
Games Club – Mrs Lawson still has availability at her after school games club on Tuesday and Friday afternoons, please contact her on 07812503114 to book. She can also do an extra session on a Thursday (until 5pm) if needed – this session must be pre-booked.
Poppy Appeal – from Monday onwards we will be selling poppies and other items (reflectors, bracelets, pencils, rulers etc.) in school – available from the office, please give what you can to support this great cause, we would love to see all children wearing a poppy or similar in school. A minimum donation of 50p is suggested.
New Uniform – there will be a uniform order going in on Friday 9th November, any parents needing new uniform should collect an order form from the office and return it ASAP. Many thanks.
School Meals – parents of children who have a school dinner will find an invoice in their Friday bag each week for the cost of the meals (except our infant children of course). Some of you may prefer to pay in advance whilst others may wish to pay weekly- the choice is yours! The cost is £2.30 per day. If you wish to pay for school dinners up to half term, the cost will be £89.70 (39 days @ £2.30 day) per child. Cheques should be made payable to Lancashire County Council.
Invoices are also enclosed for the last week of half term for school meals and breakfast club.
PTFA Christmas Fair –
25th November, 2.00pm-5.00pm at Burton in Lonsdale Village Hall.
From Monday, there will be a sign up sheet in the entrance to school (outside the office) for parents to sign up to volunteer on the day. We are ideally looking for all parents to sign up to their preferred hour to ‘man’ a stall. We would also greatly appreciate donations of mince pies and cakes for the cake stall. Christmas themed would be great if possible, but not essential! Bought or homemade are equally appreciated! Cakes can be dropped off at the school office on Friday 23rd November. Please name your tins so we can make sure they are returned to you. Thank you in anticipation.
We have managed to secure a visit from Father Christmas himself but as you can imagine, his schedule is rather tight at this time of year, so he will only be joining us from 3.00-4.00pm.
Governors – we are actively seeking new governors to join our board – do you know anyone? Ideally, we are looking for non-parental governors, to compliment and work alongside the board we currently have. If you have any family members or friends who may be interested in joining the board, please send them our way. Thank you.
