9th November 2018

Well what a hive of activity it has been this week! The Christmas play rehearsals have started, and everyone has their parts. It has been nice, albeit slightly strange at the start of November, to hear almost 40 children signing carols at the top of their voices from the office!
Our 5-a-side netball team had a great time on Wednesday and played really well together as a team. We came third overall, so a big well done to those involved!

Poppy Appeal – a huge thank you to all who donated to the poppy appeal, it was lovely to see so many of the children wearing poppies or bracelets.

School Photos – if you placed an order for school photos, you will find them in this week’s bag.

National Anti-Bullying Week 12th – 16th November is anti-bullying week.  The theme this year is “Choose Respect” and we will be doing some work on this in school.  Some useful information for parents about what is classed as bullying & how to help your child if they are being bullied or are bullying others is available online; https://www.bullying.co.uk/advice-for-parents

Festival of Light – our juniors from year 4 will be taking part in a Festival of Light celebration at Over Kellet Primary School on Tuesday 13th November. If your child is involved in this, you will find a full information sheet in this week’s Friday bag.

Young Voices – Manchester Arena, 14th Feb 2018 – thank you to all the parents who have returned the slips regarding the Young Voices Concert next February.  We will be ordering the t-shirts and tickets at the start of next week, so if anyone else would like tickets to the performance or t-shirts please return the slip or pop into the office for a new one, this really is your last chance as we are working to the deadlines set by Young Voices.
We are aware this is a late evening for all involved, and will be offering a late start to school on Friday 15th February if required.

Payment Cards for Edinburgh – parents of those children taking part in next year’s residential visit to Edinburgh will find a payment card in this week’s bag. This is to help you keep track of payments and spread the cost of the trip. The total cost is £180.00 per child, less the deposit already paid if applicable. You can pay in instalments between now and the end of March, or in full – it is entirely up to you. Please make sure that you send all payments into school with the card provided. Any cheques should be made payable to Lancashire County Council.

Christmas Activity Day – preparations are under way for our Christmas activity day at the end of the month. We are in need of yoghurt pots, old CDs, small red, green or white / mother of pearl buttons and beads. If you have any that we could use for our decoration making, please send them to school as soon as possible. Thank you.

REMINDER: Home – School Agreement – enclosed in today’s Friday bag is another copy of the home-school agreement for those who have not yet returned it. Please discuss the agreement with your child at the level you feel they will understand, sign and return.

PTFA Christmas Fair –
25th November, 2.00pm-5.00pm at Burton in Lonsdale Village Hall.
The sign up sheets are still available to view outside the office for parents to sign up to volunteer on the day. Thank you to all those parents who have already volunteered to ‘man’ a stall, however, we are still a little short of volunteers, particularly for the latter part of the event.
We have managed to secure a visit from Father Christmas himself but as you can imagine, his schedule is rather tight at this time of year, so he will be joining us from 3.00-4.00pm.

Easy Fundraising – is an easy and free way to raise funds for the PTFA every time you shop online. Schools can raise amazing amounts of money through this scheme.  It works by parents and family members using easyfundraising.org.uk as a first step to find the retailer they want to buy from online. When you visit a website to buy something via this page it will register your sale. Easy fundraising will receive a donation based on the value of your order which will be passed onto your chosen charity or school. All you need to do is create an account on www.easyfundraising.org.uk; log onto the website and set your cause to St Peters C E Primary School Leck. You don’t have to go through the Easy Fundraising website each time, once you have registered there is a free app you can download for your smart phone or tablet, so it really couldn’t be easier!

Governors – we currently have a few vacancies on the board of governors, including a vacancy for a parent governor. Please come and talk to Mr Stafford-Roberts if you feel you could fill this role and would like to apply for the vacancy.  If you have any family members or friends who may also be interested in joining the board, please send them our way. Thank you.
