23rd November 2018

Our junior children took part in a fabulous World War 1 reality lesson outside on Wednesday, where they learnt how to march in formation, ate real trench food and wrote letters to loved ones from the trenches. It was a wonderful way to learn and gave us an insight into what life could have been like for soldiers in the trenches.
Next week we are looking forward to our annual Christmas Activity Day on Wednesday, where the children will be busy making all sorts of Christmas crafty creations and festive delights.

PTFA Christmas Fair –
25th November, 2.00pm-5.00pm at Burton in Lonsdale Village Hall.
We look forward to seeing as many families at the Christmas Fair as possible. Please tell friends, family and neighbours to come along too, the PTFA and all the stallholders have put a huge amount of effort into this event and their goods, so please do come along and show your support.
Father Christmas has cleared a little slot in his rather hectic schedule and will be with us between 3.00pm-4.00pm.

Christmas Performance – the highlight of the festive school calendar is nearly upon us with this year’s eagerly anticipated Christmas production – ‘A Game for Christmas’. As with previous years, there will be two performances; both on Wednesday 12th December in the school hall at 2.00pm and 6.00pm.
As we expect the evening performance to be extremely popular, we need an idea of numbers attending. For this purpose, you will find a reply slip enclosed in this week’s bag for completion and return by Friday 8th December please. If you have pre-school children who would like to watch, and if possible, please bring them to the afternoon performance.
REMINDER – please can all costumes be in school before Friday 30th November at the very latest. We have a full dress rehearsal the following week.

REMINDER: Christmas Pantomime – this year, the whole school will be visiting “The Selfish Giant” at the Brewery Arts Centre on Thursday 6th December.  Further information regarding the trip will follow shortly.  The total cost of the trip is £11.50, but as the PTFA have kindly agreed to fund the transport, we are asking parents for a contribution of £6.50 for each child.  Many thanks to those families who have already sent their payments in.
