7th December 2018

The whole school had a thoroughly enjoyable time at the Panto (oh no they didn’t)! Thank you once again to the PTFA for funding the cost of the coach, which significantly reduced the cost of the trip to parents. We are extremely grateful for all their fundraising efforts throughout the year!
The dress rehearsal for the whole school performance went well, you are all in for a real treat next week!
The mufti day donations that came in this morning are fabulous, they will make some lovely hampers to be raffled and drawn at the performance.

Christmas Performance
– the children are all very much looking forward to performing for you next Wednesday 12th December in the school hall at 2.00pm and 6.00pm.
All girls should have their hair tied back away from their faces, in a low bun please. In the afternoon, children will come home with their costumes and should arrive back at school by 5.45pm dressed and ready to go.

Leck Playgroup Visit – Leck playgroup will be visiting school on Monday 17th December from 9.30am – 11.30am, please feel free to stay with younger siblings and tell any friends and family members to come along too.

Winter Craft Workshop – Lancashire Adult Learning will be running a one off Winter Craft Session for parents and pupils on the morning of Wednesday 19th December. Please indicate if you will be able to join your child/ren on the reply slip below. Places are limited. Children whose parents can’t stay will be doing crafts with Mrs Mather and Mrs Tidd in the classroom. Thank you.

Leck St. Peter’s Church Carol Service – our annual Carol Service at Leck Church is on Wednesday 19th December from 6.30pm. We look forward to seeing as many parents, grandparents and friends of school there as possible.

Party Day! – our annual whole school Christmas Party Day will be on Thursday 20th December. Normal school lunch arrangements will continue that day and instead, we are asking parents to provide a snack for the children to enjoy during the afternoon. There is a sign-up sheet of party foods / snack items in the entrance hall opposite the office so please do put your name against the food item you wish to provide- many thanks.

Chapel Christmas Service – Wendy Thornton, chapel minister, has invited families to Cowan Bridge Methodist Chapel on our last day of term, Friday 21st December at 3.30pm for a Christmas service. The service will be finished by 4.30pm.

Juniors Teeth Topic – next week in class we will be using Ceplac Disclosing Tablets. The tablets are a great way of identifying plaque on our teeth and will help us to brush with more care and caution. The children will brush their teeth with a toothbrush and paste provided by Colgate, which they will then bring home at the end of the day.

Juniors Christmas Cards – earlier this half term our junior children designed a Christmas card, they are in the process of being printed and packaged, and will hopefully be available for parents to purchase at the start of next week. All funds raised from the sale of the cards are for the PTFA.

Morning Drop-Off – we are noticing more children being dropped off at school earlier, and left unsupervised on the playground. If you arrive before the early morning club children come out parents will need to stay and supervise their own children until a member of staff is outside. If you need to drop your child off at school before 8.50am, then please use our Early Morning Club, which is open from 8.00am.

Governors – we currently have a few vacancies on the board of governors, including a vacancy for a parent governor. Please come and talk to Mr Stafford-Roberts if you feel you could fill this role and would like to apply for the vacancy. If you have any family members or friends who may also be interested in joining the board, please send them our way. Thank you.

Carols by Candlelight – St Peter’s Church, Leck Sunday 23rd December at 6.30pm – all welcome. We would like to invite you to sponsor a candle (suggested donation £5.00), all donations added to our “church loo project”. Please contact Rebecca on 07836270874 or email rebecca.litherland@hotmail.co.uk
