15th March 2019

This week has been another very busy week in school. It started with some fabulous science week activities; the children particularly enjoyed making slime with Mrs Pimblett from QES and the workshops with Mrs Crockett from Manchester Metropolitan University.
On Tuesday morning our infants went to Kirkby Lonsdale Fire Station where they met a local Fire Officer; they had a great time and were shown around the station, all getting a turn on the fire engine and a chance to squirt water from the hose!
The walk to school breakfast trek was well attended with 15 children enjoying the walk and the delicious breakfast treat afterwards.

Annual Parental Questionnaire – the Parental Questionnaire was in the Friday bags last week, if you haven’t already done so please can you complete and return to school no later than Monday. Thank you.

Juniors Food Technology – on Monday 18th March, the juniors will be making and tasting some Greek food. Please could all juniors bring in a chopping board and a plastic / tupperware box with a lid to transport their Greek salad home for their families to try. Thank you.

Upper Junior Climbing Day – our year 5 & 6 children will be experiencing an introduction to climbing on Tuesday 19th or Wednesday 20th March. An experienced instructor from Tower Wood Outdoor Centre will lead, along with Mr Stafford-Roberts and will take place at a local crag chosen by the instructor, dependant on the weather. Parents of the children involved will find a full information sheet in this week’s bag. Please come and see Mr Stafford-Roberts if you have any queries or concerns.

Infants Forest School – we will be continuing our forest school sessions on Wednesday 20th March for the morning. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

Lune Valley Cluster Choir – next Friday 22nd March, some of our junior children have been chosen to take part in the Lune Valley Cluster Choir day taking part at Brookhouse Methodist Church.
Children should be dropped off at the Church for 9.30am and collected from there at the end of the day, please let us know if this poses a problem.
There will be a performance to parents at the end of the day. Any siblings can be picked up at 3pm in order to attend the performance at 3.30pm.
A full information sheet is enclosed for those taking part – a list of the children attending is also at the bottom in case anyone would like to share transportation.

Edinburgh Residential Visit – just a reminder to parents that the final balance needs to be paid by the end of this month. Regular payments, or indeed full payment, can be made anytime between now and then, please do come and talk to us if payment within this timescale is difficult.

Infants Blackpool Zoo – on Tuesday 26th March, our infant children will be going on a day trip to Blackpool Zoo to support their Australia topic work! There will be an interactive session that will involve live animals as well as time to explore and enjoy the zoo. A full information sheet will be included in next week’s Friday bag.
