17th May 2019
This week our Y6 children took their SATs. We are extremely proud of the way the children approached these tests, all week they have been mature and positive and we know that they have all tried their very best, which is all that we ask of them. Thank you Y6 for your hard work.
They have been able to ‘let off a bit of steam’ at the Kwik Cricket tournament this morning, where they all played really well as a team!
The following weeks now get busy with day trips, sporting events, the Edinburgh residential and other activities to complement daily class teaching. A list of key dates for the next half term are at the bottom of the newsletter.
THANK YOU – we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in the PTFA, from organising fundraising events to supporting those events. We have just had 3 beautiful picnic tables delivered this week – paid for by the PTFA! What a lovely week it’s been to sit out and enjoy them too. Thank you!
Infant Forest School – children will continue their Forest School activities on Tuesday. The weather is ever changing so please send children with appropriate clothing for the weather (sun hat, sun cream etc).
Lancashire Library Bus Visit – the library bus will be visiting school on Tuesday lunchtime, please can all children who borrowed books return them for exchange or to renew. Thank you.
Parents Meeting – Edinburgh – Mr Stafford-Roberts is holding an information session for all parents of pupils going on the Edinburgh Residential Trip at the beginning of July. The meeting will be held at Hornby St Margaret’s Primary School on Tuesday 21st May at 6pm, please try to attend.
Pyjama Party – our school council pyjama party is next Friday 25th May. Children should come to school dressed in their pyjamas or onesies, along with £2. Normal lessons will resume until 2pm when they will all enjoy a school disco. Snacks and drinks provided.
PTFA Mufti-Day & Tuck Shop – children can come to school in their own clothes on Friday 7th June in return for a pamper hamper donation which will be raffled at the jumble sale. There will be a tuck shop at the end of the school day too.
PTFA Jumble Sale – Saturday 22nd June 10am-12noon at Fraser Hall.
A list of helper slots has been put up outside the office – please ensure you sign up if you can help – these events cannot happen without enough volunteers.
Jumble donations are welcome and can be dropped off at the office following the half term break. Thank you.
Welfare Assistant – we are still looking for a welfare assistant. We need someone to help serve meals and supervise the children during their midday break. The vacancy is term time only covering Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 11.45am – 1.15pm. Please contact the office for more details.
Governors – we are actively seeking new governors to join our board – do you know anyone? Ideally, we are looking for non-parental governors, to compliment and work alongside the board we currently have. If you know anyone who may be interested in joining the board, please speak to Stuart Hemingway, either by phone 07706 143 380 or email stuarthemingway@btinternet.com
Thank you.
